85 Chevy Nova won't start.
Thats your throttle body injection do you have enough fuel pressure to carb? its possible you have a failure with the throttle body if you have good pressure to the carb. Need to check pressure before you can go further.
Gas gauage dont work
with the imfo you have given its going to be a guess,but i will bet you will find that the sending unit in the fuel tank is bad.

Engine pops through carberator when accelerating
Its either the timing of the distributor OR the accelerator pump in the carby as it must squart petrol in a fraction before the engine accelerates
if not then like yours it sucks in air and the engine pops back in the carby ( and its been known to catch fire) so do it now as with out enging going air cleaner off and look in the top and see if it squarts fuel in straight away and no delays.

CHANGING A TRANY FROM 2 SPEED POWER GLIDE TO A 350
You will have to cut into the transmission hump until you have enough room to fit your new transmission and get the shift linkage in place. Then you can rebuild around the new setup. It might be easier to get a new hump from a later model car that came with a 350 or 400 transmission and replace your old one with that. Hope this helps.
71 nova will not start
take a look at the wires on the top of your starter,
there should be a big main battery cable there, a small start wire, and a couple of fusible links.
the fusible links provide power to the rest of the vehicle, they are designed to fail if there is a short in the system, you can purchase fusible link at your local parts house it comes in a small roll, do not use regular wire for the repair you need the fire protection offered by the special link.

Just rebuilt! no forward gears
Since the cooler works in either direction,That would have no effect on the gears,Check the linkage and the controls on the transmission.
Cant figure out what the door latch rod hooks to at the latch ins
Rod connects to latch on one end and handle on other end. Remove the inner door panel and look carefully with a light. The clip that holds it on is likely laying inside the bottom of the door. It's a really simple setup and shouldn't be hard to figure out. If you can't, remove the other side and take a quick look.

Chevy TH350 trans problem
if you just had it rebuilt should ba a warranty if is was im sure you wouldnt be on here asking so did you install new torque converter when the trans was rebuilt? check the trans filter not clogged how long did it run after the rebuild or did you install it yourself after the rebuild and it doesnt work ? let me just say the torque converter should always be replaced with the transmission new or rebuilt and when the transmission is being installed you have to make absolutely sure the converter is all the way back on the trans if not you will damage the front pump on trans and would need to replace it .

there is no way to tell if its the original motor. but the vin. will tell you what size engine came with the vehicle.your local gm dealer can tell you which numbers and letters mean what. including whether or not it is actually an SS.
