Where is neutral safty switch on 83 camaro z/28

Neutral Park/BackUp Lights Switch - REPLACEMENT & ADJUSTMENT
  1. Remove the console trim from the console.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
  3. Remove the 2 attaching screws from the switch and remove the switch.
  1. To install a new switch:
    1. Place the switch onto the transmission control shifter and loosely install the attaching screws. Position the transmission control shifter assembly in the N notch in the detent plate.
    2. Assemble the switch to the transmission control shifter assembly by inserting the carrier tang into the hole in the shifter lever.
    3. Install the attaching screws and tighten.
    4. Move the transmission control shifter assembly out of N position. This will shear the switch internal plastic pin.

  2. To install the original switch:
    1. Place the switch onto the transmission control shifter and loosely install the attaching screws. Position the transmission control shifter assembly in the N notch in the detent plate.
    2. Rotate the switch on the shifter assembly to align the service adjustment hole with the carrier tang hole. Insert a 3 / 32 in. (2.38mm) diameter gauge pin to a depth of 9 / 16 in. (15mm) and tighten attaching screws.
    3. Remove the gauge pin.

  3. Connect the electrical connector to the switch.
  4. Install the console trim to the console.

I want ti install timing chain in 350 chevy. What

The timing chain is not that fine, nor do you care about advance with the chain. A single link on the chain is more like 15 degrees, and you will have no trouble deciding which is the best fit.
TDC is always 0, and never 4 degrees advanced.
It is the ignition that is advanced, not the chain. To advance the breathing you would need to either change the cam, or get a variable chain sprocket. But again, you can not tell 4 degrees when putting a chain on. It changes that much at least when you take the slack out.

83 camaro transmission problem

I'd put my money on the transmission starting to slip. You are losing revs because the clutches are worn and not making proper contact. If you haven't recently changed the tranny fluid and filter, now would be a good time to do it and add a full bottle of Lucas trans oil while you are doing it. This will help to extend the life of the trans a little longer while you figure out what to do with it, rebuild or replace. I've had pretty good luck with this, getting as much as a year out of the tranny. Hope this helps.

It telling you there is a problem in your charging system. Either the battery or the Alternator or the Voltage regulator are going out. You can remove and have the Alternator and the battery tested for free at most Auto Parts stores.

Eninge wont start unless petrol is tipped down

might have to put a carby kit through it, the jets might be blocked thats what it sounds like. when you poor it in the fuel and air gets in straight away but if the jets are blocked you wont get the fuel through. try carby cleaner, use the accelrator cable on the side of the carby to rev it right up while spraying in carby cleaner car will try die out then let off the accelerator. basically you have to clean your carby out

I want to make sure I am assembling my clutch

Prety simple job here. Sounds like you either have not put the pilot bushing in the end of the crankshaft, have not lubed it, have the incorrect one, or have the clutch disc put in backward. lets take them one at a time: 1 no pilot bushing, this is self explanatory. 2 No lube, you need a small dab of grease on the very end of the trans input shaft, where it slides into the pilot bushing. 3 Incorrect bushing, the pilot bushing should slide easily on to the end of the trans. input shaft, but should not be loose and able to flop around. Clutch disc installed backward, the disc is flat on one side and the hub sticks out on the other side, the side with the hub sticking out goes in away from the flywheel, it actually sticks into the clutch cover plate( pressure plate).

83 camaro has no lights at all. all fuses are good

Check the fusible links on the starter harness. There should be 2 black rubber plugs on the wires going to the starter. I'm not sure which one is for the lights. I always replaced both because I figured if one was bad it wouldn't be long before I'd be back under there to do the other one. Hope this helps.

Engine smoke and smell

You have a bad head gasket. So far the leak is not so bad but will eventually reach the oiling openings in the gasket so watch out for that. Change them as soon as you can
