Secret windshield tip! See clearer and make wipers last much longer!
Have a windshield full of bugs that dont want to come off at the carwash? Spray some glass cleaner on a section of the windshield and use a razor blade to scrape it clean before the glass cleaner dries. Repeat this until the entire windshield is clean and smooth. Reclean it after with the glass cleaner and you CAN wax the glass outside surfaces if you wish to keep things from sticking to it. You can do this for all the glass on the outside of your vehicle for a professionally cleaned look and your wipers will work so much better and last much longer! I have used this little trick to make many of my customers happy when they say that new wipers didnt work well or they couldnt get foriegn objects off the windshield like bugs and road tar and such. Your glass will feel smooth and shine like brand new after this treatment. This tip is for ALL vehicles but I had to choose just one for some reason.
I have a 2001 Chevy
The O/2 senser will not make it qit but the fuel pump and the ingition module will. does it start right back up? Fuel pumps heat up and quit sometimes opened the relay and it cools and or is cycled as you try to restart and it reclosesand you drive on. an amp test on the pump draw or even a scope test of the pump may isolate it as the bad boy. Pumps build up pressure and heat if the fuel filter is partly clogged. Change the filter as preventale maintanance and try to blow though the old one if it blows though hard it may be too late for the pump and you may have to change it too as the stuff that went thohg the pump that stopped up the filter. You only can heat the pump so much before its bad if you find it is change the relay also and check the ground wire where it connectes to the frame. The hanger unit that the pump is in fails too and it has to be changed on most models as you can't buy the pump any other way because it fails as often as the pump or is damaged as the pump fails. The ingtion ciol can fail, but not likly to start right back up you gota wait. The ECM cando it too but is not a common problem. Their may be engine control codes in the computer to help you determine the problem
My truck is loosing power on the road, I pulled off the air filter and put it back on , now it has no power. The dtc says on the computer, reduced engine power.
Have you checked your alternator? A lot of times it is simply from an alternator that is not working entirely properly. If it is not putting enough power out then you may not be generating enough energy to spark some of your plugs. My 280zx had a problem with the belt that was skipping the alternator and my car would all of a sudden die and then instantly crank again. If you have a volt meter you can simply test this by putting it across the negative and positive terminals. When the truck is off it should run at about 12V and when cranked run up to about 13-14 Depending on specifics of the truck. If you do not have a volt meter you can simply go to your local parts store and they generally have a free alternator test. If you are not getting proper voltage there are a couple of things it may be.
- The Alternator Diode itself is bad and you need to buy a new alternator
- The belt is loose and a simple belt replacement will fix your issue
- The spring in the belt tensioner is loose and needs replaced
