5.7l. Why is rear A/C blowing hot air?
It's most likely low on refrigerant if not there's a TXV in the rear unit that tend to stick high or low in your case probably low, you need gauges to check it should run 28-32 psi with the engine at 1500 rpm. These vehicles are noted for. Leaking lines the original line set was one piece so you can just cut it out the replacement line set comes in pieces.

Ck your alternator output, should be between 13.8 and 14.2 volts, A bad alt will cause the battery to discharge when driving, Once voltage drops to a certain level (9.8 I think ) the ecm starts to shut down causing all kinds of strange problems, like running bad ,trans not shifting right, even the radio ! there will be codes stored so the scanner in use has not got the right protocols to read the ECM
Nissan products have to be set using a screw in the ECM to get to read the codes
you have to be specific with make , model , year , type of equipment to get closer
Brake system
The front reservoir (the small one)is for the rear brakes.Have you pulled the rear brake drums and checked the wheel cylinders for leaks?
Is the rubber seal on the reservoir cap in place?
Follow the lines carefully to the rear brake hose and on the axle to the brake cylinders too.
Lastly,it can be leaking from the front section of the master cyl internally to the rear section of the master cyl but not likely.
I just changed the thermostat
Did you unplug the coolant sensor near the thermostat when you changed the thermostat?
Check it for a bent/broken pin or a bad connection.Black smoke and a check engine light can be a sign of a possible coolant temp sensor problem.
You should run the codes to check what the van is actually asking for and don't forget to recheck the coolant level after you have driven it a bit,WHEN IT IS COLD!A great van to own!

I'd be checking the sensor (ABS) at that wheel, (right front) and adjusting rear brakes to proper clearance, as well as inspect them for proper operation with wheels off.
