How to replace front turn signal

Scott, are you replacing just a turn signal bulb, or the entire turn indicator unit? You might want to go to the library and get a Chilton's auto manual for your vehicle. You can buy your own copy at most auto parts stores or at Amazon.com. This book can answer many of your questions and they have easy to follow diagrams too. If you are replacing just a bulb, then there are screws that hold the lenses on. You remove the lens, push in gently and twist the bulb until it popps out. Push the new bulb in and twist it until it is firmly in place. Replace the lens and check to be sure it works, before you're done.

Hello I race a 1996 cavalier on a dirt track and I

What kind of air box do you have? After racing in dirt for a few laps, is the air filter getting clogged up? I would say that or possibly intaking in hot engine air (cool air atomizes the fuel better). I'd start there... then move on to fuel issues.

Check engine light came on, says its a evaporative

What does that mean?
This indicates that a part of the EVAP control system is no longer fuctioning correctly. The EVAP system consists of many parts, including (but not limited to) the gas cap, fuel lines, carbon canister, purge valve, and other hoses. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

Possible Causes:
A code P0440 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
  • The gas cap is not installed or working properly
  • The purge solenoid has failed
  • The canister is plugged and not working properly
Possible solutions:
With a P0440 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:
  • Remove and reinstall the gas cap, clear the code, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back.
  • Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses
  • Inspect for damaged or disconnected hoses around the Evap purge solenoid
  • Check and/or replace the sensor
  • Check and/or replace the purge valve
  • Have a professional use a smoke machine to detect leaks
HTH,

Cavalier sputters

Randomly shuts off? The only "shutdown" for a car is the security system. I do not believe you have a shutdown for low oil pressure. I have seen cars shut down due to the gas cap being loose. I think you have had bad oil, even if you changed it, it could have varnished the hydraulic lifters which will give you the sputtering. This may be remedied with an anti-gumming agent. I know that the Dodge Intrepid (not your car- read on) had a poor design where the engine would gum up. Dodge makes an additive specifically for the oil of this engine that removes the gunk. This is what I would try. Other backyard methods like using diesel fuel do work and I have used them, but I DO NOT recommend this for you. Over the counter stuff at the department store may work, but I know that the Dodge stuff worked very well.

1996 chevy cavalier keeps overheating

You have to :burp" the cooling system. Rather than me trying to walk you through this with text, just google and youtube yourself through it. Search for things like "Bleeding the cooling system" and you will find a few different ways you can do this. Just use caution when the water is hot.

2.4l dohc ticking

Slight ticking is not a bad thing. Given the age of the engine, it is to be expected as things wear. Metal filings on the drain plug are not unusual either.
