No. The most common problem with the low sensor light is the switch which is located in the radiator just below the filler neck. First make sure that the radiator is full. With the cap off, start the engine and then add coolant to the radiator. There are two bleed valves in the system. One by the thermostat area and the other by the by-pass hose close to the water pump. Be sure all the air is out of the system. The low coolant sensor gets dirty and causes this problem.

Believe it or not this is quite common on older cars.

Newer cars have systems in place to pressurise the tank as and when needed and release pressure when needed etc, however, older cars don’t have this luxury.

However, if your smelling fuel along with it, I would highly recommend you replace the fuel cap itself, as this should have a rubber seal round it and it sounds like it may have perished. This could also explain the louder thank usual whistle.

Check the ends of the battery cable hooking to the starter and make sure it is clean also make sure the battery cable is clean inside and tight to the battery. If that is ok then change the battery cable to the starter, the positive cable. Make sure before you change the cable that the solenoid for the starter is ok, because if you can short the post out then you are getting power to the starter and the solenoid may be shorting out.

Almost always it's the crank sensor on a 3.8.They fail so often,I recommend changing the crank sensor at every tune up. Otherwise the 3.8 is a great engine.

The diagram is for fuel injectors, the top wire is voltage, goes hot with the key on, any voltage? The bottom wire from injector is ground, controlled by computer. If no ground have to check for rpm signal. Engine cranking, you have spark at the plugs and proper fuel pressure?

Take the old throttle body, tip it up so you can see the circle flap that controls air flow, if it's black and dirty, pick up a can of brake cleaner and a toothbrush and spray the brake clean inside onto the flap and use the toothbrush to clean away all the gunk. This will prevent it from sticking, and possibly get your money back for the throttle body you purchased.
