how do I replace the starter on my 1993 chevy silverado?
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery..
Under the front end - find the starter near where the trani connects to the motor and the really big gear (flywheel) is..
Undo 2 bolts to remove the starter.. take the wires off and be sure to put the wires on the starter the same way..
Connect the wires to the new starter and put the starter in with the to bolts.. The starter will only go in one way so you cant mess up how it goes in..
Good luck !

how do i set the timing on a 93 chevy 350 v8
Hello Matt.
Basic tool needed is a timing light.
Find the timing mark on the harmonic balancer and put a dab of whiteout on it to see it better with the light. Also clean off the timing mark tab on the timing cover so you can see the "0".
0 is where the specification is but I usually go to 3 or 4 as it seems to work a little better there.
Loosen the bolt under the distributor that holds down a clamp that retains it. Snug it enough again so it doesn't turn. I ask you to do this before you warm up the engine because if it is difficult to loosen you don't want to be doing this when the engine is hot.
Warm the engine up now as it may stall when disconnecting the computed timing if you don't.
Hook up the timing light inductor to #1 cylinder ignition wire (on the left front of the engine, on the right if you are looking in from the front) and the power supply to it on the battery.
Find the computed timing disconnect. Disconnect this set timing connector (tan/black wire) located in center of cowl, under battery junction block cover after you get it running. (this will turn on your check engine light. it will go out after you reconnect and shut the engine off)
Aim the light at the timing marks. Rotate the distributor until you get it lined up. tighten the distributor and recheck.
Reconnect the timing connector. There you go.
Thank you for using FixYa.

where can i find the fuse box on my 93 chevy pickup its not under the dash or the from what i have seen
I'm assuming your vehicle is a:
Fig. Fig. 1: Some models may use an underhood fuse/relay panel
1993 K1500 8-cylinder, Vin "K" 5.7L TBI (91% of 1993 K1500 1/2-ton P/U 4WD sold)
For 1988-93 models, refer to the wiring diagrams for fuse application and amperage ratings.
Fuses protect all the major electrical systems in the car. In
case of an electrical overload, the fuse melts, breaking the circuit and
stopping the flow of electricity.
The fuse block on most models
covered by this section is located under the instrument panel to the
left of the steering column. The fuse block should be visible from
underneath the steering column, near the pedal bracket.
This photo shows removal of 1991 K1500 dashboard panel covering fuse block.
If the panel is not visible, check for a removable compartment
door or trim panel which may used on later models to hide the block.
This panel is usually located on the left end of the instrument panel.
The
convenience center is located just below the instrument panel on the
drivers side. It contains individual relays such as the seat belt and
ignition key alarm, and flasher.
On newer model vehicles there is an underhood fuse/relay center contains both mini and maxi fuses, as well as some relays.
If
a fuse blows, the cause should be investigated and corrected before the
installation of a new fuse. This, however, is easier to say than to do.
Because each fuse protects a limited number of components, your job is
narrowed down somewhat. Begin your investigation by looking for obvious
fraying, loose connections, breaks in insulation, etc. Use the
techniques outlined at the beginning of this section. Electrical
problems are almost always a real headache to solve, but if you are
patient and persistent, and approach the problem logically (that is,
don't start replacing electrical components randomly), you will
eventually find the solution.
Each fuse block uses miniature fuses
(normally plug-in blade terminal-type for these vehicles) which are
designed for increased circuit protection and greater reliability. The
compact plug-in or blade terminal design allows for fingertip removal
and replacement.
Although most fuses are interchangeable in size,
the amperage values are not. Should you install a fuse with too high a
value, damaging current could be allowed to destroy the component you
were attempting to protect by using a fuse in the first place. The
plug-in type fuses have a volt number molded on them and are color coded
for easy identification. Be sure to only replace a fuse with the proper
amperage rated substitute.

1 & 2 work fine- in overdrive the engine revs going to 3rd-let off gas & it shifts, but no 4th gear. Will not shift to third in drive at all. I changed the shift solenoids (both) and the VSS- still not shifting properly. No metal in the pan when I dropped it- fluid at bottom of pan was thick and sludgy.
The transmission needs replacement or to be rebuilt.

93 Chevy engine has code 43 problems I no it could be a bad knock sensor. My problem is I had headers put on . They were a tight fit in the area of the sensor, I did not do the work. The sensor is screwed in to a 90 degree block of sort that screwed in to engine block I don't no if it was that way with the stock exhaust. The header is touching 90 degree block . If I replace sensor could this be a on going problem? I can't seem to disconnect wire harness from sensor. Help!
Should be another sensor on other side of engine practice unplugging that one to see why this one is difficult then gotta get header tube off fitting or move fitting position so it clears I would imagine it worked out before if not things may get tougher but fixable I won't advise it but a good pinch bar and wedge would be an option start engine get headers cherry red and work quickly gotta be brave and crazy with care it's an extreme that most should pass on for all the things that could go wrong I'm guessing you better not go there new headders are pretty cheap.

I have a 93 k1500 4x4,i have 230k on it, rebuilt trans at 120k, What happens is that i start out 1-2 gear fine, then no 3 rd gear, just revs, but if i manually shift 2nd gear take it up to about 40 mph and shift to drive it goes into drive and runs fine. I also pulled the fuse and manually shifted also, no problem. I have routinely changed fluid and filter, also changed out shifter soloniod, no difference. I also can start with the shifter in drive, take off punching it with the high rpm's it also shifts into drive. Any ideas???
Do you mean start the car in drive? if so that problem is inhibitor switch. Other shift problems can be caused by TPS (throttle posistion sensor) if applicable

can't find the crankshaft sensor on 93 k1500
The sensor is located on the front of the truck. To find it, crawl under the truck to see the crankshaft sensor behind the harmonic balancer on the passenger side under the timing chain cover.
