Torque converter lockup

Not to argue the previous comment but it's MUCH more likely to be the solenoid than the actual torque converter -if- it's a transmission related problem. If it's simply a matter of the car stalling when you come to a stop, there are MANY things that can cause this. If the car starts right up but won't go into gear, then it's the solenoid but if it's just a matter of stalling but then drives fine, other things to check would be ignition coil packs, plugs/wires, emmission system, fuel pump/pressure, etc., etc..

Now if the car starts but won't go back into gear (stalls right away) please know that problems with the lock up solenoids (or TCC solenoid) are VERY common with a number of 90's era Chevy's such as Corsicas, Berretas, Cavaliers, etc.. While there are other things (including the torque converter) that can cause this problem, including the ECM and/or wiring problems, the TCC solenoid is the most logical place to start.

Depending on the vehicle, it should be located under an access plate on the side of the trans. Raise the driver side front of the vehicle, remove the front driver's side tire and remove the wheel well access. As you are looking at the end of the trans, you should see the access cover. Once you remove this cover you should see the solenoid (please note you will need high temp "form a gasket" to reinstall the cover!).

There is a great deal of info on this both on the internet and in repair manuals. Good luck!

My rear brakes lock up

Look at the front brakes. If they did their job, the rear brakes possibly wouldn't need to lock up. Also check the emergency brake that it's adjusted properly; if its cam (at rear brakes) is rotated because of maladjustment of the cable, that might cause a wedged effect when the brakes are applied.

I have a 1993 chevy corsica. When you first start it runs good for about 2 to 3 minutes and then dies. Just replaced the fuel filter, and when you turn the key on you can hear the fuel pump. We just r

You may have pressure in the system, but the system will only work properly within a narrow pressure range - too low or too high will cause problems. Have the fuel pressure checked over several operating conditions (pressure too low is usually the pump or a rubber connector in the fuel line collapsing under high engine load, too high is usually the regulator).

Corsica won't start,

Start by checking the battery cables for corrosion at - to motor and + to battery. If all cables are good It will be the starter. the lights dimming while turning the key is normal. PS you can also give the starter a few good whacks with a hammer then try to start it.

My 1993 corsica 3.1 v6 trouble code is42.what should I look for to fix my engine

After a Google search I found trouble code 42 involves the spark control circuit. First thing you do is make sure you have a good connection at all the plugs going to your distributor module (the things the spark plug wires go to). If you still have an issue, you need to try replacing the distributor module. If that doesn't solve the issue, you either have a fried ECM (Engine Control Module [computer or brain box as some call it]) or there is a short in the wiring going to your distributor module. Hope this helps.
