2006 Chevrolet Equinox - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I have a 2006 Equinox and I had no dash light and no tail lights. The fix was a fuse located in the passenger fuse box. It's labeled 10A PARK. hope this helps others with the same problem!

As you know one of the problems can be the Fuel Cap. I make this suggestion. If you changed your Fuel Cap before the Purge Valve double check that the cap used was an OEM (Original) Chevy Part for that specific vehicle, not just any cap from another Chevy.

I think its worn out or low lubricant Carrier Assembly- Rear Differential 500Ml. 16.9 Oz. (rear drive module) Axle Lubricant (GM PN U.S. 89021677. Its a computer controlled rear diff so I say maintenance.

I have had the same problem happen, but here's likely what it is:

Either the resistor has blown, the wiriing harness has fried, or both, - or - it is the blower motor that needs to be replaced.

In any case, here's how to do it:

Check the resistor, its the easiest thing to do first. On the passenger side, under the dash -- WAY UNDER, by almost to the back, there is a wire that goes into the resistor.

The resistor controls the speed of the fan that blows.

There are 2 small screws holding the resistor in, unscrew them and remove the resistor - it is about 3 inches long and 2 inches wide and has ceramic covering. Remove the wiring harness and check both - if resistor is black anywhere, its probably bad. If the wiring harness is melted, and it probably will be, then it needs to be replaced.

Search online for a "Blower Motor Wiring Harness", you'll have instructions on how to cut the wires, splice the new harness and reconnect it. Also you'll need to replace the resistor.

One from the dealer will run you about $150.00, but I got one on parts.com for $26.00 + $10.00 shipping.

If you find that the wiring is fine, then its probably the blower motor.

Underneath the passengers side dash is a panel that covers the blower motor. Remove it, and youll see the blower motor. It looks like a hamstercage, circular with groves throughout its perimiter.

There are four screws holding it in, unscrew them, remove the wiring harness and take out the motor. Theres ways to test to see if it is the motor thats bad, but it requires a multimeter and some familiarity of where you're poking around. A new one will cost you some cash, but I picked up a used on on eBay for about $20.

Replace that, and it should come back on.

The problem though, is most likely the wiring, since GM has already put out a TSB with this wiring problem, and has since replaced the harness with a new model.

REAR brake caliper BRACKET bolts Torque is 92 FT/LB and Caliper to the bracket is 20 FT/LB.Remember rear bracket torque is different so don't forget as many DIY mechs snap that rear bracket bolt.Use Thread Lock on caliper BRACKET Bolts.

Those are not needing adjustment intervals, also you should be equipped with VVT (variable valve timing) Are you hearing top end noise at idle?

even if u turn the engine off?

You may need to replace the head unit - you can pick up a OEM replacement on ebay for about 70-100, or go to a stereo place and get a double din head unit for as much as you want.

Aftermarket head unit would probably be better anyway, and you can find a decent clarion double din head unit for less than $200, with ipod control, mp3, wma/aac, etc.. it will be better than your OEM stereo.

If you decide to replace the stereo, its really easy and would take only about 30 minutes, message me and i'll tell you how to remove the stereo.

1. Drain the cooling system until the coolant is below the level of the water pump.
2. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
3. Rotate the drive belt tensioner to release the tension on the drive belt.
4. Remove the drive belt from the right idler pulley.
5. Carefully release the drive belt tensioner spring tension.
6. Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
7. Remove the water pump pulley.
8. Remove the water pump bolts.
9. Remove the water pump.
10. Remove the water pump gasket.
11. Clean the water pump mating surfaces.

To install: Fig. Remove the mounting bolts (3) to remove the water pump (1) and gasket (2).

1. Install the water pump gasket (2).
2. Install the water pump (1).
3. Install the water pump bolts (3). Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
4. Install the water pump pulley. Loosely install the pulley bolts.
5. Insure the drive belt is properly centered on all the pulleys except the right idler puller.
6. Rotate the drive belt tensioner away from the drive belt.
7. Install the drive belt to the right idler pulley.
8. Release the tensioner allowing the drive belt tensioner to come in contact with the drive belt.
9. Inspect the drive belt to insure the belt is properly centered on all the pulleys.
10. Tighten the water pump pulley bolts. Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
11. Fill the cooling system.
12. Inspect the cooling system for leaks.

2006 equinox p0463 code I have this code what I should do.

This sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is leaking fuel into the engine when it sits, it will start as if it were flooded if you try to restart within 20 minutes and it will crank longer when cold because the fuel system needs to prime up. I hope this helps. Take care.

First, recalibrate the air handler by the following procedure; From the Equinox Service Manual 1. With the ignition on, simultaneously press the A/C and Recirc buttons, 3 times in less than 2 seconds 2. Verify that the A/C and Recirc LEDs are flashing, Wait 15 seconds for calibration to complete 3. After calibration is complete, press the A/C and Recirc buttons to verify proper LED tracking to function selected If this does not correct the air handling issue, have the nearest dealership diagnose possible loose electrical connections , broken air dam doors, etc. Best of luck.

Short answer is that I've never seen a dealer charge a customer to hook up and read codes from the ODB2 port. I think that pretty much defines that particular dealers service department. The transmission is not designed to require fluid maintenance per the owners manual-ever. That's why there's no user available dip stick. The cooling system is designed for flush and replace only after 150,000 miles. Somewhere in your town is a small, affordable and professional garage with an excellent mechanic. Give him or her the list of grievances listed by the dealer and let them work their magic for much less. You are right, some of what is listed is bunk, some could be real issues. One that is not real? The steering is electronic assist, no fluid, just synchro-motors. What were they going to flush, your wallet? I am a firm believer in the factory franchised dealer concept however, there are some that should have their franchises revoked, I think you found a pretty good candidate. Best of luck.

Unusual, but with no other info, here is a procedure that has to be performed to abate general hard starts with the 05-06 models; Once a year or 2, have a mechanic clean the throttle body inner surfaces with a rag and some brake cleaner spray. Varnish builds up and the throttle plate sticks to the inner surface over time. A cleaning every 2 years at the longest prevents this condition. Access through the removed air cleaner to throttle body rubber connector is all that is needed to clean the area.
