Replaced vss do I need to reset ECU
Probably wasn't the VSS to begin with and resetting the ECM won't help the speedo . 80% of all vehicle electronic issues can be tracked back to wiring and or connections. You need some diagnostic skills here, a few cheap tools like a DVOM and test light, and a wiring diagram. You have to test each circuit (wire) from one end to the other. Auto supply stores will hook up their scanner and tell people "Oh, you got a problem with ______." Their job is selling parts. Sure the scanner sees a problem with the VSS but it can't tell if it's the sensor, a wire, a poor connection, or the speedo itself.
My 1988 Pontiac 6000's turn signals light up but
Check or replace your fuses. This would be one of the round silver looking ones.
Or might be one of the black ones.
I had the same problem with my car. Had to keep taping on it till I replace it.
Mine was right by the steering column easy to reach while driving. LOL
Good luck.
Car stalls while slowing or stopping
I've had vehicles that have done this in the past. In the meantime, try to get used to using two feet at the same time (one on the gas and one on the break) to keep the RPMs up while slowing down. It's just a temporary fix, and not recommended that you continue to drive like that.
When you have a chance, get a mechanic to adjust the timing 'UP' a tad so it won't stall out.
If the vehicle is at a timing where it SHOULD be, then raising it to fix this problem will also be temporary until the problem can be diagnosed fully.
After all, however, it is an old cheapy right? These are just quick fixes.

Timing a pontiac 6000le 2.5 engine
first check to be sure the vavuum lines at the throttle body are in there correct places.
on the main pulley of your engine, the one on the crank shaft there will be a little notch on it. mark the notch with some chalk or a dab of white paint. then loosen the bolt that holds down the distributor until you can turn the distributor. turn the distributor a little bit, snug the bolt up and try it. once you have the car running you will need a timing lite to set the timing to the correct timing mark. which should be 8 degrees before top dead center for you car.
Low fuel pressure at fuel
pinch fuel return line and look for the pressure if pressure still low
bad fuel regulator defect
hope it help
Engine stalled, wolnt restart, gas in air cleaner?
A few things can flood the engine, bad fuel pressure regulator,(just pull the vacuum hose off the regulator and see if there is fuel in the hose)fault with the evap canister,or tank was overfilled. (once again pull the lines on the vapor canister and check for raw fuel.)However I can't see fuel all the way to the air cleaner unless the timing was so far off it is blowing fuel the wrong way. Possibly timing chain.
Enging just sputtered then quit
If you have throttle body injection (TBI), look at the spray pattern of the injector spray when someone cranks the engine over. You should see a fine mist cone pattern of the injector spray (downward) into the throttle body. If the cone pattern looks good, check for spark-maybe the ignition system has developed a fault. Post back if you need more help. What year and what size engine, 4 cylinder 2.5L, or a V-6?
