the left front brake is draging. after replacing both the rotor and caliper and new pads it continues to drag and over heat and smoke. ???
This one had me stumped for a while. The above solution should work. The reason a brake hose can cause this is that if they over-crimp the piece of metal in the middle of the brake hose that holds it in place and/or the rubber in the hose swells too much as it ages, the passage through the hose can close off where it goes through that metal piece. Once this happens, the brake brake fluid can still force its way through the hose when you step on the brake, but the caliper will be unable to fully release. This will overheating everything and cause the brake pads to wear very quickly.

My fuel guage does not work, so I depend on the trip meter to know when to refuel and now the speedometer/odometer/trip meter quits randomly. If I press the face of the speedometer slightly, it works again. I have taken off the top dash cover and removed four screws near the corners of the instrument cluster, but it still won't come out. I don't want to break anything, but I was hoping I could get it out and figure out some way to make the thing work. Any help? I have a 95 dodge neon sport. The fuel guage, speedometer and odometer works sometimes. This is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any solutions?
I did pretty much the same thing that motor1258 did. This was on my third gauge cluster to be in the car. This solution simply does not work. Yeah whacking the top of the dash will sometimes get the gauges to work but not always. I have a bit of a temper and would get pretty annoyed by their non-compliance. I ended up breaking my dash from hitting it too much. So now I had a broken dash on top of my stubborn gauges. I just found a solution online that should be a permanent fix. Basically you take the gauges out, take them apart and re-sodder the pens on each plug back to the circuit board. I am going to try it and hopefully this ends my frustration.

95 neon has a p0171 system too lean (bank 1) code, which we think deals with the fuel system. the fuel filter was replaced, which has helped, and the pcv has been checked and is fine. there is not much pressure at the fuel rail (should be in the 40's ?)... if so, how do we increase the pressure? please help!!
you have a air leak, check your vaccum hoses, will take time

My car kept shutting off every few minutes while driving so I changed the fuel filter but it still keeps shuting off while driving. I also replaced hoses. checked spark plugs and changed timing belt. any ideas what it could be.
After it kills, pull a plug wire and check for spark. If it has spark, check for fuel. I can't remeber where the service port is on the F.I of a Neon but it'll look like a tire air valve cap but a little larger. It''l be on the fuel rail or line somewhere under the hood.
Take the cap off and depress the valve. If fuel doesn't squirt out (not drip), you're losing pressure. Neons were bad about fuel pumps so it MIGHT be this. They run a little over $200 for just the pump. I had a retail unit that kept doing this due to fuel deposits from Ethanol. It kept clogging the "filter" sock in the tank. After it set a while the stuff would sink back to the bottom and the car would start back up.

how do you get a 2000 dodge neon trunk open when the key won't work? No button in glove box.
The only other way I can think of is to remove the back seat to gain access to the trunk latch.
Otherwise, a locksmith would be my next solution.

After trying to shift into 5th or reverse, the gear wont engage. The shifter becomes loose and flimsy and its hard to get back out again. There also seems to be more play in the shifter in gears 1-4 now.
the linkage is loose or poping out! check to c if trans is tightend down
