Thanks Pierre!

Merci beaucoup!

Everything worked as mentionned. Be carefull with the plastic in the winter. Make sure to use a flat screw driver and get it close to the slider and not on the edge. I cracked one of the tongues. Those L shaped slots are under the plastic cover with the two big plastic plugs that you also remove with the flat screw driver

I have a 2002 malibu and the cooling fans won't

I have a 2002 malibu and the cooling fans won't come on with the a/c off on there own even if the temp goes in the red. If you turn the a/c on the fans will come on and run until the temp goes down to where the fans should cut off even if you turn the a/c off after the fans start. I have replaced the temperature sensor and checked the fuses and relays and they all seem to be fine. Both fans are working as well.

I have the same problem in my chevy malibu 2003, I know the problem is from engine programing (car system) but no one can fix it only by reprogramming the car but it is difficult to do it. What I did is I took the car to a car electrician shop and I ask him to let my car fan work once I start my car. He just put some wire inside fuse box and also add one extra wire between one fan and the battery and it is working well now. The electrician told me "but this will decrease the life time of the fans because it should be only run once the car is hot". Then I told him "just do it" because I know that if didn't do it, my car will damage from high temperature and the engine gasket, fuel pump, water pump, power stirring pump, electric sparks could be damage from high temperature. So if the fans become down, I will change it no problem which will not cost me more than 35$ rather than the big damage which might happen if I didn't switch it on, might cost me thousands of dollars. I did it more than 3 months a go and it is working fine. No my car temeperature around between 1/4 and 1/3 of the full temperature.

No more overheating.....

GOOD LUCK

Brakes slipping

When coming to a stop the brakes act as if they are stopping on ice and then hitting dry pavement. The seem to slip and then grab just before you stop. This only happens when stopping completely.

If you have ABS brakes then one or more of the sensors may need replacing on the rotors. Also check the fluid level.

99 Chevy Malibu - auto trans - no dipstick

I have a 1999 Chevy Malibu with an automatic transmission - there is not a dipstick to check the fluid - how do I check?

You have what is called a closed cased transmission. You have to crawl underneathe to get to the tranny and remove the upper bolt close to the side of the case (more towards the bottom of the transmission). When you fill it, you fill it till it starts to drip out of that hole.

Looking for a picture for you.
