HI. Engine loping at idle in a stock RS camaro will likely be caused by bad fuel injectors. The throttle body on your car has two large injectors and usually the drivers side will short out leaving the passenger side over-working. You can see this occuring if you remove the air cleaner lid and use a very bright flashlight to look at the spray pattern for both injectors. They should look the same roughly. There could be a vacuum leak at the MAP sensor hose, there could also be stuck open EGR valve as well, commonly there is a problem with the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor and wiring connector that may be the cause of your problem. As far as the vapor leak in the fuel system, check the fuel hoses near the gas tank and the smog canister under the hood for cracks or broken places. I have had to replace many fuel pump o-ring seals on these cars though. The spot where the fuel pump hanger mounts into the fuel tank has a large diameter o-ring that cracks and splits very commonly, also if the fuel pump was replaced, sometimes people don't quite get the seal to stay in place just right.

odb1 code 42 could be a bad ground,be it a body,chassis,or engine ground.the only other thing it could mean would be for a transmission sensor gone bad,but i would check the grounds first.

Have you checked the fuel pressure ?Is the check engine light on ?
