What would cause my cruise control all of a sudden start losing speed when I said it on my 97 GMC Sierra pickup

get some electrical contact cleaner and clean the connections, if that doesn't help, check the throttle control unit under the hood, it may have a vacuum leak.

Where is the air filter located in a 97 GMC Sierra? It has a Detroit Diesel in it.

Air filter are often mounted on top or to the side of the engine. The top mounted filters are usually a round ring filter you fit into a metal 'pan' shaped container positioned right on top of the engine. It will be fastened shut with either clips around the edge or a Wing nut in the centre of the lid. Release the clips or unscrew the wing nut and lift off the lid. The filter should lift out, drop in the new one, refit the lid and refit the clips or the wing nut. The side mounted filters are often positioned over towards one of the inner fenders and can sometimes be more of a pain to change. They use a slab filter usually about the size of a large book. Look for a big, wide plastic tube, (likely to be 2 to 3 inches wide), coming from the top of the engine over to a large black plastic box. This will be held closed with either screws or 'hook over' clips. The box will have a rib going all the way around the sides. This is where the fasteners will be. Check all four sides for fasteners ( I've missed screws or clips and wondered why the lid won't come off). You might need to wiggle the lid high enough to slide the filters in and out. Fit the new filter the same way up as the old one the refit the clips/screws.

How do i time the cam sencer witrh the crank sencer ?

your question is realy garbled but I think you are asking about the timing of the cam and the crank sensors usually you have to have them both replaced at same time which means you can see the NO1 position on the cam and the position of the crank and thats with the cover off but I found out from another friend that if you go onto YouTube and request How To set timing on the Cam shaft and Crank shaft sensors you will get a video. MAKE SURE YOU SPELL IT ALL RIGHT OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT FIND IT. Sorry about the Caps but wanted your attention use my spelling. Good Luck

Replace glass, drivers door on 1997 GMC 1/2 ton Truck ,2wd, Power windows

The door panel is held onto the door with clips but first you need to remove the screws from the grab handle on the door panel. then pop the bezel off around the inside door handle. very carefully!!! then using a clip tool pry off the peice that covers the rear view mirror nuts and pry gently all the way around the door panel until its loose then lift it up slightly to unseat the window channel strip off the door, then unhook your wires. As for the window roll it up, tape it to the door then line up the 2 10mm bolts that clamp it to the regulator with the provided holes in the door, loosen 'em up roll the regulator down and remove the window. Have fun guys!!!

A 97 Sierra 4.3L 1500 2WD has four O2 sensors. One on the drivers side exaust, one one the passenger side exaust, one where the two exausts come together before the cat, and the last one after the c

That should be bank 1, sensor 2, and if installed, that is usually the one just before the cat converter.

My gas gauge is stuck on full. I've replaced the sending unit and have check all the wireing and nothing works what can it be?

It helps to know how it works ! The fuel level sending unit is a input to the VCM - engine computer . The VCM needs this info so it can do evap. emission leak detection testing ! The VCM sends this info. to the instrument cluster via the class 2 serial data network . U.S. Federal regulations require that all automobile manufacturers establish a common communications system. This vehicle utilizes the Class 2 communications system. Each bit of information can have one of two lengths, long or short. This allows the vehicle wiring to be reduced by the transmission and reception of the multiple signals over a single wire. The messages which are carried on Class 2 data streams are also prioritized. In other words, if two messages attempt to establish communications on the data line at the same time, only the message with the higher priority will continue. The device with the lower priority message must wait. The most significant result of this regulation is that the regulation provides the scan tool manufacturers with the capability of accessing the data from any make or model vehicle sold in the United States. Hooking up a factory tech 2 scan tool to view sensor data inputs to an from the VCM an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's is the proper way to diagnose . DTC P0462 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Low Voltage DTC P0463 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit High Voltage The Fuel Level sensor is an important input to the VCM for the Enhanced Evaporative System Diagnostic. The VCM needs the fuel level information in order to know the volume of fuel in the tank. The fuel level affects the rate of change in the air pressure in the EVAP system. Several of the Enhanced Evaporative System Diagnostic sub-test are dependent upon the correct fuel level information. The diagnostic will not run when the tank is greater than 85% or less than 15% full. (This sensor signal disables the misfire when the fuel levels are less than 15%). This DTC is a type D DTC. Action Taken When the DTC Sets • The control module stores the DTC in history after the first failure but will not illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL). Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop.

I have to replace my

what I think is your calipers are used to being in the outer extension of the piston stroke. when that happens sometimes moisture can set in and oxidize the piston surface, now when you shove the piston back into the caliper to clear the new pad it will stick to the walls of the bore and put to much pressure on the pads then come heat and warp. Next time you replace it buy the preloaded caliper and pad combo an bob your uncle, which mean you should be good. hope this helped.

1997 gmc sierra 3500 won't start

When you turn the ignition to start, do you hear the starter turning and the solenoid engaging the flywheel ? test your starter by jumping it and see if the engine turns over. If this works, then you might consider in checking fuel pressure. Do you have any codes in your ECM ?

Fuel gauge

I don't think you could trust that either. Sounds like the sending unit in the tank is messed up, so it may never read correctly. By now, you must know the approximate miles per gallon it gets, so until you get the gauge fixed, you should go by the number of miles you go to know when it needs gassing up. Just as a ballpark figure, a '97 Sierra, city driving, maybe 15-17 mpg? I really don't know, you could google it I'm sure.
