off-hand, since you contend that
your sound system has a profound effect...
I would skip past the
BATTERY... (+ voltage regulator)
and move quickly to your GROUNDING system...to VERIFY
good clean connections throughout...
More importantly... if you have any recent
MECHANICAL or BODY-WORK...
Very IMPORTANT
ground straps are accidentally
left disconnected...
Typically
your
PRIMARY GROUND is to the engine block
and BODY grounds (your trouble area) are strapped
to various body elements from there...

Jumper CABLE:
A simple test from major
BODY BOLTS in your dash area
