The dash gauges on my 1993 gmc truck are only

Hate to break it to you, but the gauges on the older gmc's and chevys are just about junk. Your best bet would probably be to just get a set of aftermarket gauges from your local auto parts store and hook them up to replace your original ones,
hope this helps :)

95 sierra 5.7 suddenly has rough idle and brake

If you have a hard brake pedal the most likely cause is the brake booster has gone bad, this can also cause your rough idle situation as well because of the vacuum issue that will be a problem because of the bad booster. there are 2 nuts that hold the master cylinder to the booster and 4 bolts on the booster under the dash, not a difficult job to replace you can leave the brake lines attached as well which will save time from bleeding the entire brake system. I hope this helps

Won't pass emissions with every part changed for

Your converter won't be doing much after 17 years,
if it is the original

The exhaust gas readings are what you use to
diagnose the problem, you don't replace any parts
until you find the cause of the failed emission test.

What readings were high and by how much?

I was just driving down the road an it just shut

manufacturer decided they wanted a unique system of fuel injection, at least different then that of most systems. The control valve may act up and not allow fuel to inject at intervals. Instead, it may take be clogged with debri, gunk, and other trash which needs to be serviced in a shop to be repaired. One very common activity with your fuel injector is it may cause the valve to stay closed and burn gas in a manner that is inconsistent with normal gas usage, the vehicle will start to blow out black and dark smoke out the rear end, trick your cars oxygen sensor, and allow the system to burn a larger amount of fuel for the same mileage. This problem needs to be solved in a shop where the equipment is available to make adjustments and flush out your system.

The break lights wont work

Hi,
Better check the brake switch, usually located under the steering column at the top of the brake pedal arm.
When you depress the brake pedal that switch will be activated, and when you let go it will be pressed by the brake arm.
Look for that switch, either it is disconnected or needs to be replace.
Hope that stops your problem!
Thanks for using Fixya!

the most common cause is wheel speed sensor or sensor wiring not reading proper wheel speed.it is also possible the reluctor wheel inside front bearing is clogged with rust and debris and unable to send magnetic pulse. This can be tested with scanner to determine wheel in question.ohm meter can be used to test sensor and reluctor pulse.

sounds like a connector tube came off. You can try with a flashlight to see from under dash. If not you would probably have to pull gauge assy out to get to it.
