I have a problem with a thm700r4 transmission. i
Check that the OD solenoid on the torque converter is good still. When the R4 wont go into OD you have no more gears than 1st an 2nd. If the OD clutch drum was relaced if it was burnt, that will make a problem also. You have to have OD in order for these babies to work right.

What is the switchbelow back windowswitch
I'm guessing you are referring to the window lockout switch. It prevents the rear and passenger windows from being opened by kids or ? When activated it will still allow the driver to operate the windows but the individual door switches will not work .

1984 GMC tailgate window operates
There is a contact switch built into the latch on the tailgate that makes a ground whenever the latch is in the closed position, it may be wore out, but you can try to take off the tailgate cover and gain access to it, then spray it with electrical contact cleaner, or spray like WD-40 that may do the trick. That switch is there so a person cannot roll up the window when the tailgate is down.--------- But if its not helping then by pass the limit switch.By connecting it wires together and see if the window operates, if it operates, then replace the limit switch.--------
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I have a 1988 Chevy
Hi,
You have a bit of a problem, these are not interchangeable and you will need to remove the rear section of the transmission to fit the pick up shaft off your old gear box.
The reason being so that the transducer(speedo) can have the correct wave signal caused from the notched gear in your old transmission.
Sorry, but it is the only way around it.
Let me know if you need more information.
Thanks
Jason

My 84 sub keeps sputering
I worked on one of these and change alot of parts. tune up ect. It turned out to be the engine temperture coolant sensor that caused most of the problem. But the tune up, air filter, fuel filter and cleaning the throttle helped it out. everything I did made a difference in the performance.

Hard shift from 1st to 2nd, and nothing in drive.
It sounds like a Solenoid problem. It might also be a clutch pack. If you felt like cracking it open to take a look, you might be able to do the rebuild yourself because there are ample parts available, but you might be better off just finding a new used tranny.

ok,
so, you had built you pickups from some service center or branded.
there is a problem related to unbalenced flywheel management in engine when it was assembled that time some dust or any other particles jamed on bore.
so you have to now reopen you engine case & clean up your all part bore, pistons, crank case, perticularly flywheel attach to crank,
do with care,
takes time to get result but you will surely sceeded to fix this.

I have a 1989 suburban r2500 2wd 7.4 I recently
This may sound crazy, but take the battery bolts out of the cables and clean/replace them and make sure to clean where the bolt contacts the cable, I've seen plenty of GM vehicles with symptoms like yours and its where i always start, seeing as you probably disconnected the battery when you changed the alternator, or at least I presume you did , the cable may have corrosion behind the bolt. Just take the cables off the battery and push with your thumb or try turning them as you try pushing the out of the cables housing. Hope this helps, but sounds like a ground issue. Good luck.
Tail lights not working
ck fuse for rear taillights tis under the dash lower left of steering wheel. or if you still have the manual look in there under fuses.
also look for a bad ground but i doubt that.. if it's both rear out.
fast flashing well here's a chart with all sorts of info.
Problem What To Do
Turn signals light, but do not flash Replace the flasher
No turn signals light on either side Check the fuse. Replace if defective.
Check the flasher by substitution.
Check for open circuit, short circuit or poor ground.
Both turn signals on one side don't work Check for bad bulbs.
Check for bad ground In both housings.
One turn signal light on one side doesn't work Check and/or replace bulb.
Check for corrosion in socket. Clean contacts.
Check for poor ground at socket.
Turn signal flashes too fast or too slow Check any bulb on the side flashing too fast. A heavy-duty bulb is probably installed In place of a regular bulb
Check the bulb flashing too slow. A standard bulb was probably installed in place of a heavy-duty bulb
Check for loose connections or corrosion at the bulb socket
Indicator lights don't work in either direction Check If the turn signals are working
Check the dash indicator lights
Check the flasher by substitution
One Indicator light doesn't light On systems with 1 dash indicator:
- See if the lights work on the same side. Often the filaments have been reversed In systems combining stoplights with taillights and turn signals
- Check the flasher by substitution On systems with 2 Indicators:
- Check the bulbs on the same side
- Check the indicator light bulb
- Check the flasher by substitution
hope this helps. may want to print for future reference. :)
hope this helps.
