My 95 gmc wont start when hot

check the fuel pressure regulator for leaks it may divert the fuel when warmed up,check all vacuum hoses for cracks if you think it's bad change it. turn key on and wait 30 sec.then crank and see what happens, fuel pump may be getting hot.if you can check fuel pressure at the rail for at least 35 psi.you can do this by removing the schrader valve and attach a hose with gauge.you should be able to hear the fuel pump for a few sec.when you turn the key on. try this when cold then hot see if you notice a differance.it seems to relate to a fuel problem.hope this helps, dave

Got a bad miss

The most common problem for this symptom, is a faulty cap and rotor. When was the last tune-up? There are other reasons for a bad miss though. You may have another ignition related issue. Run a compression test first, check the battery and the charging system, look for loose or damaged wiring in the engine compartment. From there you can inspect the ignition system, and the fuel system. If there is any additional information that you can think of, write back. Maybe you noticed a light on the gauge cluster that was never on or flashing before. Good luck.

Truck dies when idling

HI first I would like to tell you, do this procedure only if the 5th digit of your VIN is C or K.

Description

The engine control module (ECM) learns the idle position of the throttle plate to ensure the correct idle. Anytime the throttle body is cleaned or replaced, the ECM must learn the new throttle position. The idle may be unstable or a DTC may set if the throttle position is not learned.

Conditions for Running the Throttle Learn Procedure

• DTCs P0101, P0102, P0103, P0107, P0108, P0111, P0112, P0113, P0506, and P0507 are not set.

• The engine speed is between 450-4,000 RPM.

• The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) is greater than 5 kPa.

• The mass air flow (MAF) is greater than 2 g/s.

• The ignition 1 voltage is greater than 10 volts.

Throttle Learn

Important: Do NOT perform this procedure if DTCs are set. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code

(DTC) List - Vehicle.

1. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.

2. With a scan tool, monitor desired and actual RPM.

3. The ECM will start to learn the new idle cells and Desired RPM should start to decrease.

4. Ignition OFF for 60 seconds.

5. Start and idle the engine in PARK for 3 minutes.

6. After the 3 minute run time the engine should be idling normal.

Important: During the drive cycle the check engine light may come on with idle speed DTCs. If idle speed codes are set, clear codes so the ECM can continue to learn.

* If the engine idle speed has not been learned the vehicle will need to be driven at

speeds above 70 km/h (44 mph) with several decelerations and extended idles.

7. After the drive cycle, the engine should be idling normally.

* If the engine idle speed has not been learned, turn OFF the ignition for 60 seconds

and repeat step 6. 8. Once the engine speed has returned to normal, clear DTCs. Good Luck

Engine bucks and backfires through throttle body under acceleration

for an engine to backfire through the throttle body means that the inlet valve is still open when spark occurs . That means that the timing is too far advanced . IT may also mean that the tappet clearance is out if manual adjustment or the hydraulic followers are pumping up and holding the valves slightly open especially at revs.

Hazard switch broke how do

Sounds like someone was installing a new stereo. The entire turn signal switch will need to be replaced. They call it a combination switch. You wil need to remove the covers on the steering column, and unbolt the switch. The wires do not unplug from the switch, and must be disconnected at the junction block beneath the dash.

Ive got 1995 z71 5.7 truck ran fine then made 1500 mile trip up north truck did fine all the sudden it started to miss bad at an idle and pick up and loss of power I changed plugs wires cap rotor and

Pickup coil may be going. Some are difficult to change, however, they are cheap. Also, if after replacing you still have a problem, suspect the computer. If you can remove it, open it up and look inside for a burnt computer chip. Don't forget to inspect all small hoses for cracks.
