no need to remove the dash just the globe compartment

you need a proper tune up, if its a carburator type it also needs cleaning.try to replace all sparkplugs fuel filter.if this wont work your timing is probably off

best thing to do is get a car manual that shows how to perform these jobs then you will have pictures and reference info with you and decide if you are up to doing it yourself.

U have an intermittent situation that can be most disconcerting. The anomaly has to lie either with fuel flow or ignition. Loosen and re tighten all wiring with fuel pump, ecu, etc and hope that you get lucky. Now that it is running you will not be able to find the source of the problem. Oh, check the neutral safety switch for proper operation.

Those numbers on the cap identify which cylinder is connected to which plug wire and in some cases its also the firing order. Usually the firing order is stamped into the top of the intake manifold someplace. You also need to know which direction the rotor is turning in to make sure you get the correct order. Leave the cap off and bump the started to see which direction the rotor turns in and you can work out the firing order from that.

Check your shop manual. It should have all torque specs.

if you buy a set of spark plug leads that are specific to your vehicle they will all be numbered as per cylinder , remove the old ones one at a time and relace with the appropriate new lead

open the hood at the back of the headlight there will be a cover that has to be removed,on this model i think its easier to remove the headlight unit ,unless you can get your hand in behind it after removing the cover ,then there is a spring clip that needs moving then bulb can be removed the reverse for replacing

This is going to be tough to fix. Chances are its a relay or the ignition module, but until it gets to where it will not start for several minutes or not at all, you won't know if you have fixed it or not.Something is getting hot, cooling off, then getting hot again.

Manual or automatic ?
