Reset oil light on a 02 gmc envoy
With a little box of tricks a GM dealer or specialist would have. Sometimes a local good DIYer may have the reset box. Its the sort of thing snap-on would do.
Key will not turn in ignition
Probably because your steering lock is activated, if not then you have forced the ignition too much and it needs to be replaced.
Try the following:
Insert Key in ignition
Turn Steering Wheel to left side as much as it can when engine isnt started (apply some force), then try to see if key will turn in ignition.
If it doesn't work: Try same maneuver but turn Steering Wheel to the right instead.
I have a 2002 GMC Envoy. Just replaced passenger wheel bearing, both sway bars, both upper ball joints, outer tie rod-drivers side, & brakes all around. Now the car wants to walk all over the road,
I am wondering if you have checked and reset the steering geometry? After all that work the front wheel toe could be miles away from the ideal setting.
Mostly checking and adjusting the toe of the front wheels is beyond the scope of the home mechanic so after the sort of work you have done the first journey needs to be to the nearest trustworthy vehicle workshop offering the service.
Considering the list of work you have done it would be advisable to request a full alignment check rather than the basic toe check/reset.
The toe setting is not just important for predictable steering but also to prevent excessive and uneven tyre wear and reduce road noise and fuel consumption. When the toe setting is incorrect the tyres are effectively being pushed or dragged sideways and a tyre can be lost in a very short time.
An unwise mixture of tyre brands can produce similar symptoms. I call it a random lane change facility and perfectly legal and well-maintained cars can suffer from it to a potentially lethal degree by allowing tyre sales people sell the tyres they are making the most profit on that week instead of the ones matching the other tyres on the car.
2002 Envoy "Service Brake System" message is on. What are the possible issues?
This could be a number of things, The first thing I would do is depending where you are located, take the vehicle to an auto parts store that provides *FREE* code reader services (ie.- Advance Auto, AutoZone, NAPA, etc.) and have your vehicle scanned for error codes. Using these codes you could maybe find your problem. If that is no help check to make sure all your electrical connections are good, There may be a loss of communication with the brake module. Finally have the error message *Reset* to see if it happens again, and if it does' you would probably need to have it checked out by a Chevrolet repair technician! Hope this helps!
