Having problems putting automatic transmission into gear. is the problem with the shift cable or the column?

I had the same problem a few years ago, check the stop lights and the switch in the brake pedal. There is a safety condition to let you know that you are on risk to ride in your car without Rear Stop Light, the User Manual explain the whole thing. If no Stop Light, your not able to move the Transmision Shift out of Parking. The easy way to overcome this, on your own risk, is to open the key to be able to move the shift to Neutral, then start the engine and engage D or R. Avoid driven without Rear Stop Light, fix it right away. I hope this helps. Take care.

No power to fuel pump

With a wire from the battery, try to power the fuel pump close to the gas tank, be careful to keep the gas tank closed. You have to hear a zoom noise. Or you can use a multimeter to find out if energy is available at that point. This way you will isolate and assure that the fuel pump works and concentrate in the relay, wire harness or even the Ignition Switch located close to the Key Lock cylinder. I hope this helps, take care.

Dash Temp Gauge reading extremely hot

You need to pressure test the cooling system. If it holds pressure, I would look at replacing the water temp. sensor. If it doesn't hold pressure, you have a coolant leak going on. If you don't see it dripping on the ground or inside the car, I would be suspecting head gasket problem.

Show diagram of 95 ford taurus transmission solenoids

A quick solution to this is to go to a dump and get an exchange gearbox. They seldom go wrong and it would be cheaper than parts. I do not know the car very well, but if it is a steereing column change some of the connecting rods could have slipped off before it enters the gear box.Could be worth following rods to box to make sure, usually joined with small king pin but might be something else. You could join with wire if that is what it is,and go and get the small parts you need. Why does battery light come on when car is put in reverse?

It's most likely a short in the wiring somewhere. When the transmission is put in reverse, it'll cause the engine to shift, which could cause strain on the wiring harness and cause the field wire to the alternator to lose connection.

1995 ford taurus problems

The transmission stick is in the steering column? if so, most likely, when you move the mechanism to reverse, is touching a cable that is grounding the battery circuit, the cable is peel off in certain point. If the transmission is on the floor or between the front seats, review the ground connections around the transmission selector at the engine compartment, most likely, the circuit of the battery light in the instruments panel is getting "ground" with the reverse rear lights. Are the reverse rear lights on? Please review. I hope this helps.

Why does battery light come on when in reverse?

low idle causes the alternator go below min voltage = batt light main harness for the engine compartment is routed between the firewall and exhaust header/egr tube. Bad location plus the harness is attached to the metal coolant by-pass tubes, a failing motor mount could let the harness "ground". A '95' Taurus usually takes 2.5 to 3 years to eat a fresh battery. The elect system is draining the battery even when its parked!. If the cables/terminals are sound and tight and a voltmeter test indicates 13.75 - 14 volts when checked at the batt terminals, with engine at idle and tranny in park. Have someone apply the brakes and shift to reverse, take another voltmeter reading. There shouldn't be a significant drop in the two tests. If the engine rocks badly on the mnts and the second test has a voltage drop under 12 volts. Then a short to ground is very likely. Take it to a parts house that will test the battery and alternator for you. but if the battery is over 2 yrs. old, then your going to replace it soon. let me know if you would please. ej
