Why would a dealer not find the problem? I know the answer, just see thousands of those senerios.
So the dealer doesn't want to repair your vehicle!
If the fuel pump is 18 years old or less, it is the most likely problem.
No one can really know, without the car and some testing, but I hope that gives you a possible cause.
Speedometer does not work any suggestions?
It is either mechanical or electrical. There could be a spinning cable inside a jacket which goes from the transmission to the cluster or an electronic sender which sends a signal to the cluster. Call a dealer and they can tell you. If it is electronic, replace the sender first as it will be cheap and easy. If that does not fix it now you are looking at how much you want to spend on a cluster for a car this old. If it is mechanical, then either the cable is broken or again the cluster issue. If you determine it is the cluster, these can be found cheap at junkyards or ebay, but the labor to install it will not be cheap and disassembling the dashboard can be a pain.

Have you tried to spray starting fluid in the air cleaner? A lot of times when you have the problem of it stalling and then running again it is usually the fuel pump not pumping enough pressure. If you spray starting fluid in the air cleaner and it starts, which I am sure that it will. I would say it has to be a fuel pressure problem or something along those lines. More than likely the fuel pump. When they get that old they just aren't as strong as they use to be.
Good Luck! I hope this helps you! If so please rate!!! Thanks!

Hi a bad fuel pump which will sometimes lead to low fuel pressure can affect the shifting of transmission because often, a dirty fuel filter or injectors will drop fuel pressure at high RPM which can have the same effect as a failing ignition system.......
Drivers window stuck in down
The easiest way is to take the panel off and raise it that way, if you don't ever roll down the window or you can't get the regulator for awhile, you can block it in the up position with a piece of wood or something. Good Luck Tim

I have 2004 Ford Crown Victoria for a month, fuel
There is a fuel inertia switch located in the trunk compartment to the left (drivers side), behind the carpet. I would try there before anything else. The switch will just have to be pushed back in if it has tripped. Hope this helps and good luck!
