Replacing the gas lines can be a pain, but you can do it. The biggest problem is that if you do it wrong, it can be very dangerous. Some parts stores can sell you the entire set of lines pre-bent, and ready to go in. When you start taking the lines you, more than likely you will run into rusted parts. And Ford's brillliant quick disconnect (sarcasm intended) lines are notorious for not quickly disconnecting, and in fact giving a lot of trouble. You will need to make sure that all connections are sealed properly, and that the lines are bolted to the frame where needed. If you can not find pre-bent lines, you will have to bend them yourself, which is not fun. So to answer your question, yes one could do this, but it will be a pain. Especially if you dont have a nice shop. I had to run gas lines in a shop with a dirt floor in the middle of February, with no heat; not cool.

Check the head light switch for out put voltage to the head lights, and also check for input to the head lights, most likely will find a burned out fusible link. The fusible link is a wire, that will burn out,if it is compromised ,in other words,if it is not tight,or to much voltage,or bad connection. Also a short will do this,it is located ,on the positive battery cable attached to the starter with the large cable,or it is attached where the positive cable is joined at a junction, most likely a stud, and could have a red plastic cap on it.

first check to see if your fluid level is up where it should be if it is jack the car up and see if the shift selonoid connections are plugged in . if so then look for chaffed wires in that area beyond that you might be needing a transmission

IF YOUR HAZARDS STILL WORK IT COULD BE THE SWITCH ON THE STEERING, AS THEY USE THE SAME RELAY IF STILL NO LIGHTS THEN THE RELAY OR MAIN REALY FUSE HAS BLOWN, some time the hazard switch fails which wll also cause failure of all turn lights

The first thing (and easiest) to check is your vacuum lines to the EGR. They may be cracked, disconnected or kinked.

If they seem to be okay, the next would be to check the operation of your EGR valve. If you are not mechanicaly inclined, this is best left to an auto mechanic. If you're wanting to do it yourself, here is a link to a step by step instruction, but it can be intimidating...

I think that if you lift by the pumpkin and put your jack stands under the axle tubes you should be fine. It's when you lift and suspend by the body you can over extend those air shocks.

Hello Malcolm.
The vacuum line to the EGR will certainly cause your check engine light to come on.
The vacuum hoses on these cars become brittle with age, I generally replace broken lines with a quality rubber hose available at your local auto supply.
The check engine light may take a while to turn off without clearing service codes.
If the light is still on after a couple days of driving you may have other issues turning on the check engine light.
Hope your repair goes well for you.

Most likely the forward gear has broken that means you need a rebuild or a new transmission ......But thats my opinion I had the same thing happen to me and most of the time it works only in reverse that means the forward gear has broken....Hope this helps and sorry for the bad news....

More likely it is not adjusted properly Kickdown cables are used to control fluid flow in the transmission so they shift correctly If adjusted to tight or to loose it will cause the transmission to not change gears properly or not at all

Take all the spark plugs out, then try cranking it to see if you excess gas in the cylinders. You may want disconnect the coil pack so you you don't have a fire, in case you get gas spraying out of the spark plug holes. If you get gas out of the plug holes, then look at fuel pressure regulator. If you pull the vacuum line off and there is gas there the regulator is shot.
