I have a 54 plate golf tdi it wont start but when

Hi there?
It sounds like the EGR valve is stuck open letting the exhaust fumes enter the engine. Since the exhaust smoke has no oxygen then the engine won't start whout oxygen (fresh air). Disconnect the pipe going to the inlet manifold and see if the engine starts. If it starts then you need a new EGR valve.

Hi i have a warning light flashing on my dash. im

That is your coolant warning. You may be low on engine coolant or your engine may be overheating. You should check your coolant level in your car and make sure all your coolant fans are working properly or have someone else check it. You don't want to be overheating and driving the vehicle. It could cause some major problems. Check it out or get someone else to. Be careful.

Ihave a 2001 vw golf 2.0l, the EPC light has come

Code points to "Cruise/Brake Switch (A) Circ Malfunction" which means the switch or connections might be bad. Most VW's of this era had a recall on brake switch, check with dealer to see if your car had it replaced. Stop lights might be out, cruise not working. Replace switch if any of these conditions present.

The thermometer image has 2 meanings

1- check your heat gauge the temp might be too high

2- check your coolant level

In your case it is most probably your coolant level.

Top it up with normal water and have it checked out, it must be leaking coolant somewhere.

the coolant bottle is the big round one that looks like a ball with a blue or black flat cap.
