My 2004 golf is overheating

It could be the thermostat. It could also be the water pump, radiator, cooling fan or a hundred other things. The first thing you need to do is make sure the engine is cool, then take the radiator cap off and check the fluid level. Check the overflow container as well to see if it has the proper level of fluid in it. If you can see the fluid in the radiator near the top then it could very well be a siezed thermostat. If you can't see the fluid level in the radiator, then fill it and the overflow container to the proper level and start the engine with the radiator cap OFF. Look for any obvious leaks under the car and around the engine and radiator, but keep your eye on the temp gauge. Water pumps have a built in warning device called a "weep hole" which will leak water out to let you know that it's time to replace them. If the radiator appears full and the cooling fan comes on, and the engine still overheats, then it is definately the thermostat. A rapidly overheating engine would constitute no water in the engine block itself which is very dangerous for your engine. If the engine remains too hot for too long, you could end up with much more serious problems.

Traction light on all the time and twin cooling

Hi

The traction light is on because there is no communication between the traction control and the ABS. You will need to check the ABS sensor which is probably damaged or need cleaning. Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion. Thank you for contacting fixya.com

My wippers cut out when

You need to check the circuit and see if the power is interuppted in any manner when the main switch is ON or when the engine is working. Also if the wiper assembly is tight or jammed it can work hard on the motor and make it stall while heating the coils. Also if the motor brushes are worn out it will work and stall.
So I suggest you check up the motor assmebly with these tips.
