My 1999 vw beetle won't start in snow
Old new beetle VW harness has contact resistance problems(vibration of wires) and needs to be recrimped the long wires(vibration can be stopped by silicone rubber anchoring). Cold weather make battery voltages low and needs recharged with handbrake on(headlamps off) 10 minutes warming engine up the whole winter.
Check engine light,'99 beetle
Have you had your brake light sensor replace. They have a recall on it. Change out your drive belt and it should make the noise go away. As long as it's cooling(a/c) i would not change compressor.
Alternator
You have the one from the battery and the plug which there is a thin wire kind of looking on the plug pull that clip off and it comes out
1999 Beetle screeching sound in 1st gear
could be the brake disc rusty/sticking pads.this is not a fault ... brake discs go slightly rust in 7 seconds so if left say for several hours in a damp area you may get this "problem".could also be brake dust..need to know when it occurs/how often.....

The MAF Sensor is common to all banks of a motor or all cylinders,& you only have one cylinder with an issueLet the mechanic do their job thru proper testing,not guessing &changing parts,they appear to be okey so far.Injector wires or ignition wires could be on the wrong coils or you have internal valve damage.Need to do more of the correct testing,the shop should know whatto do.Smoke test the intake & exhaust
