It sounds like the moron spliced into your power wires in your dash, to make your stereo work... or more likely cut them completely!
If you have the Chilton Manual Part #70400 ( 74 and Later Rabbit/Golf/Jetta...) and turn to page 12-79, you'll find a wiring schematic for your Cabriolet.
Hopefully, you won't have to tear your whole dash out to fix this mess!
I suggest removing the new stereo first. and then start looking around in there for a brown w/red stripe wire hanging loose somewhere. If you find it, just get a wire nut, or **** connector, and splice it back together with it's missing end. You can do this as a 3 way splice quite easily, and it's common practice in alot of stereo shops. Seems that oftentimes that ignition cable is just the easiest power supply on hand!

Lady, i tell you what i really think, and please dont get hurt. look, you spent a lot of money with the parts and its still making problems. There's a lot of cars that will be better, i think you should consider buy a new car. i hope this answer was helpful.

Try to check the electrical connections, its logic that the problem is there.

NO PROBLEM told just wild goose HUNT (chase) IS MPH GAUGE NEEDLE STUCK? OR JUMPS LIKE MAD.? NO SYMPTOMS TOLD AT ALL. 1991 is long in tooth car. (no county told) NO ENGINE told ,25 engines world wide. and super hard to find manuals on it as it was paper manuals only then (not digital) on most old cars like that with just 1 transmission A/T the VSS (is speedo dead and transmisson VSS errors) the VSS1 is on the tail shaft on newer cars not this car.. this car is FWd making parts hard to find and hard work to fix. (some jobs are super hard) VSS is the road speed sensor for MPH or KMH cluster. old cars with old old hyrdamatic (BINGO), does not ever need any VSS to shift to higher gears.ever. FACTS, BASED ON PARTS SEEN REAL. 1991 THE CLUSTER IS MPH GAUGE CABLE DRIVE SO THE VSS IS INSIDE THE CLUSTER END STORY. NOW IF YOU SAID TRANSMISSION FAILS? I TELL YOU HOW IT DID. TV CABLE BAD. (Throttle to box) VAC, MODULATOR BAD on box or hose bad to it. TRANS, GOVERNOR BAD. LOW PUMP PRESSURE IN IT ,VAST CAUSES ASK. (AND HUGE LIST OF CAUSES AND TESTS) why not post a problem first? speedo dead or transmission fails. even both so the helper knows what's up, even tell what works and does work correctly, in brief ? check connection at or right before clutch connection point

Take a test light and disconnect you negative lead on your battery. Put one end of the test light on the battery negative and the other end on the negative terminal. If you have a light on the test light then you have a draw. Leave the key off, shut all doors and disconnect your hood light.Start pulling fuses until the light goes out that will tell you what circuit your draw is on. As for the fan, sounds like someone hard wired the fan to power. Needs to be fixed to OEM

you really should have your vehicle testing done in a main station like the rest of europe and not done in a back street back hander type place ,its you own fault for not taking a mecvhanic with you to the auction ,right been given my orders by the boss so have to go now answer this post and i look at mail this evening

Could be a wire behind the radio. I had a Camaro that had no dash lights after an aftermarket radio was installed. Almost never found the problem. And the company that installed the radio would not admit to causing the problem....even though I had a detailed description of the problem from the tech that fixed it. Wish I had better news for you.

the "bulb" is usually built into the switch/knob , i've never seen one that can be replaced without getting a new knob , or the other variation is an LED behind the panel , these are also non replaceable but can be repaired if you can find an auto electrician to carry out the job

Hi Its either the relay which needs replacement or its the headlight switch needs checking out, or check the fuses as you might have 2 fuses 1high 1 low but i dont know weather the 3.5 has.

Start with new plugs and probably an ignition module.

U HAD THE INJECTORS CLEANED AND NOW 2 OF THEM WONT SPRAY?IS THAT CORRECT?CHECK IF THE CONNECTORS ARE OK AT THE INJECTORS AND LET ME KNOW!!
