Ac is not running could
yes or also a bad resister switch or bad connection--go to a parts store view the haynes manuals on troublshootn or search magicmechanic.net
Hi, when I went to
The key hub is composed on an key mechanism (that also commands the Neiman - the steering lock) and an electrical switch with several (in your case 4) contacts.
From what you describe it appears that the metal pin contact for the starter motor from the switch has broken (shorting the other contacts in the process) and has blocked the key mechanism. Just replace the key switch with a new one like

If necessary also get a new mechanism

1992 VW Cabriolet convertible power
There is an easy way to determine whether this is the switch or the motor itself. Remove the door panel and locate the wiring that goes to the window motor. Disconnect the wiring harness and apply 12V to the terminals on the motor. If it moves smoothly, the problem is most likely the switch or possibly a relay. If the motor does not move with 12V applied to the terminals, then the motor itself is defective.
Cant get the rotor button
have you check to see if it is held on with a bolt that goes into the side of the rotor shaft.if so then it is probably a 10mm socket(3/8 socket might work)if it doesn`t then it is stuck to the distributor shaft and the rotor will have to be broken to remove.take some fine sand paper and clean the distributor shaft with it so the new rotor won`t be hard to install.
I have a melted wire
The problem is a short to ground in your running lights circuit. From your description, it seems likely that the short is somewhere in the wiring to your lr tail light. You need to replace those wires all the way from the tail light to the switch, and that should solve the original problem.
My 1992 VW Cabriolet will
first of all if you have moisture in your d-cap itll prob missfire or bk-fire when you try to start it. if this is the case then yest replace both the d-cap and rotor. you do both at the same time no mater what so you always start with clean electrodes and to ensure the propper spacing between the 2.

I have a 1992 VW Cabriolet which leaks badly
Hi,
windshield seals are usually not the problem: Here's the secret: There are 2 round rubber drains that are meant to get water away from that firewall: Yours are clogged!
The solution is simple: Open the hood, look to both the left and right of your blower fan (that's where your water was coming from, by the way), check both and I promise you, they are both blocked. Now take a long screw driver and push trough any leaves or gunk in there and then take a garden hose and spray it into both holes and voila! No more water inside Cabby!
Enjoy your dry Cabrio! Cheers!
