Low idle speed problem!
You probably disturbed the timing between the crankshaft and the camshaft if you loosened the timing belt.
No driving lights?
Hello there - I would suggest checking the fuse for your lights in the fuse box, and check under the hood for a fuse/relay box, and have the relay tested. If the fuses and relays are good, open the hood, and try to check the connection to the headlights and make sure they are securely connected. You also mentioned that when you push the headlights switch forward for brights, and turn on the night time head lights, and neither come on but the daytime lights do, makes me suspect the switch itself may be bad. I would first check the fuses and relays if any. Second, I would replace the bulbs (if replacable). Other than that, my last guess would be an electrical problem in the wiring somewhere. I hope this information helps you fix your lights. Thank you for your time and consideration in my suggestions/answers.
Thee car stopped
It sounds like you cooked the motor. Can you turn the crankshaft with a wrench?
1997 Mazda 626 timing belt problem
IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH EITHER THE BELT IS A TOOTH OUT, OR HAVE YOU MOVED THE DIZZY WHEN CHANGING THE ROTOR ARM? IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE WITH A TIMING LIGHT, THEN YOU CAN CHECK ALL THE TIMING WITHOUT STRIPPING IT AGAIN. BUT IF YOU CHECK THAT THE DIZZY IS TIGHT THEN IT IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE THAT THE BELT IS A TOOTH OUT
After putting gasoline in my car
Raise the car w/ a jack and place on safety stands after your next fill up. Look at gas tank, vent hoses, fill hose, fuel lines , something is definitely leaking. It could be anything from rusty deteriorating gas tank, or fuel lines, to a loose connection of the fill pipe, rotted, split vent line, etc. Check this out asap as this sounds like a serious safety concern, you don't want to be driving a fire bomb
Need to find an engine piece
contact the dealer, they have exploded parts views of every part in the car, but this does sound like a timing cover.
I ha ve a mazda
If not labelled on your cover or near fuse panel, how about owners manual? It may be a case of trial & error if all else fails. You want them out all the time, or you have a faulty door switch & they won't go off?
I need to flush the
The way that I flushed mine out was to remove the upper radiator hose at the radiator and kept pouring water in the radiator until I could see clear water coming out of the detached hose. Keep an eye on the open end of the radiator because once it is filled with water, it will overflow out of the open end. Also, be careful of the water coming out of the detached hose, it will be very hot.
Mazda 626 timing
If the timing was 180 out it wouldn't run at all.
Do a compression test to make sure all the cylinders are in good condition, go back over your timing and make sure you aren't overlooking something like two plug leads swapped?, it sounds like it's only firing on two.
Engine parts Cylinder head
Check the casting number on the two heads and see if they are the same. If not, your best bet is to call a machine shop and give them the casting numbers and see if they are interchangable...
I hope this helps
