Engine dont run right till i disconnect the map
when the pcm reads a complete sensor failure it goes into what is called a limp home mode which is a default setting for engine operation. no sensors are adjusting fuel mixture or ignition timming in this mode so yes you have a sensor out somewhere and its a very good chance its the map sensor but that is not going to be a fact with out diagnosing the sensor with a diagnostic tool another sensor could be the culperate and the unplugging of the map sensor caused a complete sensor failure and sending it in to limp home mode

If you have a 4 cyl. it is located in the front of the motor, on the left hand side, right beneath the exhaust manifold..There is a Hose connected to it...Now if you have a V6, then it is located on the back of the motor, just follow that hose on the top right side of the radiator..you have to take the air filter, and the box out to get to it..
When you switch heater control over to full
Before faulting the linkage, contact your mazda dealer or repair shop to see if this is a computer managed hvac system which may be operating in a default position. They can walk you through the diagnostic trouble codes if it is, to verify the issue.
What motor does it have
It could have a 4 Cyl 2.0 liter or a 6 Cylinder V6 2.5 liter. I'm sure anyone that looks under the hood could tell you.
How to change a starter on a 96 mazda 626
Write down the radio's activation code prior to disconnecting the battery' s negative terminal.
Remove the air-intake duct and the air filter housing. (assuming this your car is 4-cylinder)
Remove the bracket that runs between the inlet manifold and the starter-motor.
The starter-motor is by the left-side of the transmission over the axle-shaft.
Disconnect its solenoid wire and the positive wire attached to the starter-motor.
Remove the three 14mm bolts holding it up.
Once taken out, exchange it for a rebuilt one at your local autoparts store.
Installation is reverse of removal.
O/D Off light is on
Try hiting the overdrive button on the shift lever or the steering control lever you may have touched it without realizing it and it's not hard to test just push the button.
