Where can i find the Transmission fluid dipstick

If your 626 does not have the dipstick you have to take out the speedometer cable and you can check it right there...The cable has hash marks on it at the end.....Also Mazda had Transmission problems on this year model......

Good luck to you

The starter will not turn over. battery is good.

Only if you have the theft deterrent option. Your security light would be blinking if that were the problem. Check your interlock by giggling the shifter or shifting to neutral while holding the key in the start position. Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are generic instructions. Please let me know if you have more questions.

1994 mazda 626 cranking over but not firing

Good Morning, those are good little cars, they are the sister car to the ford probe. Most of the problems with those when they are not getting any spark is related to the distributor and the electronics within breaking down with age. Whether it is a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder that is where I would start first is trying my local salvage yard for a good one and putting it in its place. With all the ones we have had over the years 97% has been the same thing.

Lovely mechanical person: Why is the HOLD light

Hi,

Since the HOLD light is illuminated, you need to retrieve the codes. You can do this easily with a special tester connected to the data link. Assuming you do not have this tester, you can do it a different way. Locate the Data Link Connector (DLC) on the left side of the engine compartment. Ground the service connector test terminal (TEN for 2.0L, TAT for 2.5L) and turn ignition on. Transmission warning codes are flashed on HOLD indicator light. Codes are flashed in numerical order if more than one code is present. Note the fault code numbers and let me know what they are so we can begin proper diagnostic steps.

Usually it is only stored with the light remaining on but just to be safe you should still test for any stored codes. Since this is somewhat of an intermittent problem I suggest having the transmission fluid/filter replaced and inspect the fluid for burnt smells or metal shavings.

Let me know the code, so that we could proceed.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Gearbox slipping

If you are very lucky, your transmission filter may just be clogged and need replacement. If not, you will need new bands. Try a new filter first.
