1999 GMC Jimmy - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
99 gmc jimmy, been running okay till a few days
Listen for the fuel pump prime cycle.
Have someone listen back by the gas tank....turn the key after it has been off for at least 10 seconds to run position....you should hear a WHIRRRR for about a second or 2.
If it is silent....you may need a fuel pump.
Next give it a shot of starter fluid...if it starts on that...you indeed have a fuel problem. No start....no spark.
If no start and you did hear a pump cycle....then it's most likely a no spark problem.......a common cause is the crank sensor and/or ignition module.

What and where is the servos
- A servo is a mechanism, usually a motor of some sort, that drives another mechanism. On a passenger aeroplane, for example, the control surfaces are too difficult for the pilot to operate because there is so much wind pressure against them, so they use hydraulic servos to move the elevator, flaps etc.
- On a car, the drive by wire throttle control is a servo, which is electronically controlled by the computer, depending on the throttle position under the driver's foot.
- In effect, the power steering ram on a car is also a servo, which is powered by the p/s pump, and controlled by the valves in the steering column.
- On a smaller scale, the air conditioner has servos that open and close the relevant air duct flaps when the dashboard controls are shifted to control the flow of air in the car. Please note that on older cars, and some new ones, these flaps are not controlled by servos but by cables.
- The remote controlled central locking on a car has servos in the doors that open and close the door locks when the remote button is pressed. On some cars these door lock servos are small electric motors, on others they use vacuum operated pistons, also called servos.
- Hope this answers your question!

DRL on 1999 GMC Jimmy
With the emergency - parking brake set ? Anytime the vehicle is running an the parking brake is off the daytime running lamps come on . That or the sensor on top of the dash is bad , or the DRL relay is bad or the BCM - body control module . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's stored . Hooking up a factory or professional scanner would make diagnosing this easy . Do you know what wiring diagrams are ? How to use a DMM - digital multi-meter to test electrical circuits ? Free wiring diagrams here
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html
Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine . Under system click on lighting then under subsystem click on daytime running lamps . Click the search button then the blue links .

Without the proper testing equipment an knowledge ( factory service info. ) You have no idea what's up . an don't have a chance of fixing this . Checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always the first step . Take's a professional type scan tool to read these codes. Serial data info from module incharge to PCM/ECM ,enable or disable fuel and or starter operation . Sends coded messages Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . That white component is the ignition switch .
The design of the passlock™ system is to prevent the vehicle operation if the proper ignition key is not used in order to start the vehicle. The mechanical key, in normal operation, will turn the passlock™ lock cylinder. The passlock™ sensor will relay the passlock™ data to the body control module (BCM). The BCM will determine the validity of the passlock™ data. The BCM will send a code password to the vehicle/powertrain control module (VCM/PCM). When the VCM/PCM receives the correct code the VCM/PCM allows the fuel injectors to operate normally. The passlock™ system requires the VCM/PCM and the BCM to communicate the various functions in order to operate. These functions transmit over the class 2 serial data line CKT 1807. For an explanation of the class 2 serial data operation refer to Data Link Communications Circuit Description in Wiring Systems
