Rear and side door will not lock

it is probably your door lock actuators going out or need to be replaced. There are videos on youtube that show you how to do the job if you are willing to tackle the problem.Although you possibly need to test the wires at the point (doors) to see if you have power going to the actuators.using a test light will let you know if you have power going to the lock

Won't start without ether...will run fine after

That engine uses a CPI fuel injection system. It quirks a minimum of 58 psi to start. As little as 1 psi will cause it not to start. Once it is running it requis less fuel pressure do to the poppet injectors being under vacuum. Check fuel pressure with a good gauge. If you see less that 58 psi replace the pump. How to start a gmc 98 safari without a key

If the van was built with the PASS key security system, you can't start it without a chip for the system. The system reads the chip in your key. The sensor for the chip is in the lock cylinder that was damaged. If the key did not have a chip, you should be able to disconnect the switch from the lock cylinder and move the slide with a screwdriver. The switch is on the steering column near the floor.

How to replace motor in van

I assume your question is which way does it come out... remove the front grill, hood, headlights, radiator, ac condenser.... and everything else that looks like it's in the way of the engine coming out the front of the vehicle. Support the transmission from below with wooden blocks, remove the bolts connecting engine to transmission and using a proper engine hoist, slide the engine right out the front -- easiest with intake manifold removed first, short, tight chain so engine hoist is low down one engine.

I have an 1998 gmc safari van, it quit while

It is the Ignition. If you put starting fluid in it, and it did not start, then you probably have no spark.

Check that you have spark to the spark plugs. If not, then check the vehicles' Ignition System, and repair as neccessary.

Sort of. The engine is attached to a sub-frame that can be lowered away from the body. I strongly suggest leaving this to a professional.
