2003 mustang gt drains battery in 2 days

03 Mustang GT (Parasitic) Battery Drain Fix
welcome.gif Hello, I am seeing a lot of mustangs are having battery draining issues and I wish to share some simple solutions found while working on a friends 03 GT 4.6ltr. In a quiet area, key switched off, hood up, Listen carefully close to alternator. I heard a high pitched hissing/whistle sound at low volume, came from back of alternator. This sound was the voltage regulator/rectifier staying on when key is off due to faulty diodes inside the voltage regulator/rectifier circuit, can cause battery to go dead after car not ran in about 2-7 days. After having the alternator tested free at a parts store, test showed alternator was good because the faulty diodes in the alternator did not show up on the test, the machine did not test for faulty drain back issues that were present. Alternator on-car-fix: There was battery voltage running at all times through the two-wire connector on back of alternator. Disconnect the battery first for safety and to reduce chance of short circuit. The yellow wire/with white stripe is hot while car is off so I traced this from the 2-wire connector on the alternator then closer towards driver side front fender. Next I cut the Yellow/White Stripe wire, spliced a good connection wire to it and ran it through a hole in the fire-wall to the fusebox(under dash), connected it to a 15a fuse that does not get used but has power when key is turned on but no power when key is off. The purpose for re-routing the hot wire to the alternator, is to turn off the alternator charging circuit when the key is turned off so it may not run down the battery. I am seeing good results with this fix(or patch) so far. No More Parasitic Battery Drain! Another fix can be to change the small pulley on the alternator to a larger pulley so the alternator does not spin too fast, putting too much energy through the diodes can cause a charging system to act a fool. So if you have charging issues and have an alternator changed, putting a larger pulley on can make sense turn into saved dollars(especially on high revving engines). I hope this info helps to solve some draining battery and/or alternator issues. thanks.gif for reading, TyBorg1

Why isnt cylinder 1 and 5 firing on a 2003 ford

First check for worn sparkplugs and if they still god then check for spark on those cylinders by pulling the sparkplug wire off and cranking the engine over.If there is no spark then replace the coil.If there is spark i would have the injectors leaned.

If the light is flashing - NO. It means you are dumping raw fuel intot eh catalytic converter (very expensive).

If steady, drive sparingly.

01 is cylinder #1 misfiring. Could be spark plug or coil.

16 is misfire detected during start up.

My '03 Stang GT won't start. I turn the key and nothing. It has 30g miles, and a friend said it is probably a fuse, not the battery. A jump start did not help. Any ideas?

I believe those vehicles have a spade terminal on the starter it has a plastic square covering on it grab it and wiggle it and pull and push it than try to start those connectors get corroded and dirty!

2003 mustang cylinder 2 misfire. I changed the

A code P0302 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
Faulty spark plug or wire
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Running out of fuel
Poor compression
Defective computer

Possible Solutions:
* If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.
* If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Keep us updated.

MY AC ON 2003 FORD

The most common cause for an AC blowing hot air is the system is low on refrigerant. A small leak will eventually lose refrigerant until the compressor eventually will shut down. Most compressors require a minimum of 20psi to engage and chill the air. Most certified service stations can diagnose and recharge most systems for $100-150 depending on where the leak is. There are do it yourself kits available at most auto parts stores that come complete with leak detector (R-134A with dye to show where leaks are) compressor oil, and a recharge hose.

Need fuse diagram for 2003 ford mustang v-6 need

Which A/C fuse are you looking for? There are 4 of them. F2.2 (20 Amp), F2.23 (15 Amp), F2.24 (30 Amp) are all located in the Central Junction Box behind the dash panel on the left-hand (driver's) side of the vehicle.
Fuse F1.24 (20 Amp) is also part of the A/C system and is located in the Battery Junction Block in the engine compartment.

If your A/C is not working, you should scaPowertrain Control Module (PCM) and your Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM). The first thing you should do if your A/C is not working is to scan your computer system for fault codes.

Have a 03 mustang and brake light switch keeps

There is a switch under the dash for the Brakes. If this is the part they are replacing it can be due to physical damage caused by shoes hitting it. If you can check the repair bill find out if the switch is broken or burned out each time it was replaced.

If the switch is burning up, you need to trace the Brake wiring to the 3 fixtures. The high fixture and both taillights. Your problem would be bad light sockets or a bad wire to the brake. You are just operating about 3 lightbulbs, which at best is maybe 3 Amps. But if the power is grounding through a bad wire or bad socket, it will draw as much as it takes to melt the connection.

Don't know how important it is to you to know if your feet or someone else's feet are hitting the underdash switches. You could put ATV blue on the switch and it would rub off on the shoes hitting the switch. But it could make a mess on a carpet or start a War.

I hope you find my solution very helpful.
