What corrosion warranty did the vw golf have from

Not sure about VW but most cars with this type of warranty will have to be serviced annually by the supplier to qualify.

02 VW GTI Radio says CHECK

This worked for me (radio in 2003 VW Golf):
Radio says "CHECK" but is otherwise unresponsive. Turning car or radio on/off doesn't help.
On the far right of the radio, there's a round TUNER button. Press it for 5 seconds. Your screen will then show some digits, but the unit is still unresponsive.
Press tuner button again for 5 seconds. Radio should now be 100% again. Let me know if this works for you.

How to test a starter

sorry , its usually difficult to test a vw starter off the vehicle, most dont have a front nose for balance, so armature touches coils. if you can mount it on an old gearbox on the floor, will be easy... the attach earth to the body of the starter, positive to b+ on starter, b+ on starter pin. add load to bendix drive . done !

Brake lights symbol

You can find this in your service manual or get one from a Volkswagon dealer. Hard for any mechanic to know all the symbols all the different manufacturers use without the manual.

Engine stalls while driving

HelloThe engine in this cars drive train is fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM. Whenever a problem like this stall (or many other faults) occurs the computer stores a record of the problem in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a specail tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s)

P0171 code

A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
Possible solutions include:
In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure

OVERHEATING

There are a number of checks that need to be done to assess the problem first be sure that the thermostat is changed out then fill the radiator with a 50% water and 50% coolant mixture, be sure the overflow resevoir is also topped off as well. Run the engine for about 10 minutes and look for any leak if the leak is seen replace the broken hose, radiator or gasket that is leaking this should solve the problem if not it may be a blown head gasket this is usually indicated when white smoke is seen coming out the exhaust or white gummy substance is seen on the dip stick.

I HAE A 2002 VOLKWAGEN

Hello there. If you are having those problems i am led to believe that the sensor switch of the driver door is faulty or has come loose. With the door open look for a little button. this button is usually sticking out of the frame on the car. Some vehicles have this button on the door as well. If you dont see a button that means that the switch is in the door lock mechanism. Some VW's have the switch in the lock mechanism, which makes it a pain to replace. Below are pictures of the two different types, Button and lock style.
