BROKE CABLE TO OPEN BONNET ON MY 2000 GOL GTI
You'll have to get your hand in there around the hood latch, and lever the latch over towards the driver's side. The lever that the cable hooks to.
Sometimes you have to pull the grill off to get your hand in there. And sometimes you can lay under the car and reach your arm up to get to the latch. You may have to move something aside to get your hand up there. Use a screwdriver or something to push the lever over to open the hood.
Good luck.
Polo gti battery light wont start
Sounds like your alternator is not working, if you can get the engine running and have access to a volt meter check the voltage on the battery terminals, With the engine running you should see in excess of 13V
Hi I have a golf
The best thing to do is to take it to the local Autozone (auto parts store) and use there OBD II scanner (for free) and hook it up underneath the drivers side steering wheel and obtain the error codes it will give you then look at the back of a Haynes repair book and match that code up to the number in the book to pinpoint the exact part that is failing you otherwise you will replace parts that are not needed to be replaced costing you more money then you need to spend. The EGR valve is located near the center of motor (see pic below)

Car jerks when accelerating
Jerks as in fuel starvation or jerks as in transmission slippage? Do you notice it more going up hills than you do on flat ground or going downhill?
Most likely is a fuel flow problem so change fuel filter and do a pressure test on the fuel pump. But also make sure that you don't have water in your fuel - if you think that might be the case - then pour a can of heat into it.
