IN EUROPE WE DO HAVE OIL SENSOR.

It must be down on coolant or sensor is faulty.

There could be any number of problems that would cause this. Check the easiest first ( is the fuel pump working ). When you turn the key to the run position you should hear a short humm. This is the fuel pump. If you have a loose ignition coil this will cause the car to turn over but not start. Check that the wiring is attached and snug. If it comes off easily then it's loose.

I've had this happen and the red symbol usually blinks when there's a problem. Usually means coolant needs to be added. Just remember that the ONLY coolant to use in this particular vehicle is the G12 coolant period! (well maybe G13 but very important to have the correct one) Could mean your engine. If there is no pressure at the fuel injection manifold, it indicates that the fuel pump is not being activated when you turn the ignition switch to start. This condition may be caused by a blown fuse, a bad ignition switch or wiring to the fuel pump, or a failed fuel pump. Check the fuse, then check the fuel pump by disconnecting the electrical connection at the fuel pump and applying a 12V battery source to the fuel pump. If the pump works, check the ignition switch and the wiring.

mostly 10 amps, not sure where it resides though. Maybe left bottom under dash at the driver seat?

On my daughter 2000 beetle with 2.0 engine, the blue thermometer light comes on solid when you first crank it up because the coolant/engine is below operating temp. I have seen the red thermometer blink when the coolant is low.

More than likely the thermostat.

could be the shifter cable is bad. would need to be inspected to see if things are working right

If all that Tyler has mentioned above is found good, then there is the possibility that your computer programming has failed. It happened to my 2002 VW and the dealer said that he had never seen it happen before. They reprogram in and your key/s and charge you for the reprogramming of your keys. Good luck!

If its crank normal. Check fuel pump n injection .ignition. mass air flow . Timming

Next time it won't start after two hours, push your gas pedal all the way to the floor and see if it starts. If it starts, it could be a fuel injector or fuel pressure regulator issue.

That is a transmission fault with several possible causes. P0753 Shift Solenoid Electrical

This is based on my 2001 Beetle, so hopefully they didn't make it any more complicated by the 2006 model year.

Open the hood and look at the inside of the headlight housing. Going from the back of the housing toward the front, there's a metal clip, then a plastic lever, then a little rectangular button with dots on it. These are all right next to each other. Pop off the metal clip, press down on the little rectangular button, then pull up on the plastic lever. It's kind of like a childproof pill bottle cap, I guess. Once you've done all those maneuvers, the headlight housing should slide out the front. Then you can unplug the wires and replace the whole unit, or open up the unit and replace just the bulb.

Since you're working on the driver's side, you'll also have the added joy of trying to work around the battery compartment. You may have to take the battery cover off to get enough room.

There should be a diagram in your Owner's Manual. I have one for my daughter's 1998 Beetle that should be the same as in the 2000 Beetle. Can email it to you if you post an email address that I can send it to.
