2001 pontiac grand am 2.4 car died no noise when i went to restart it sounded as if the chain broke the motor turned over freely would a bad chain that jumped time sound like this
Yes a broken chain could sound like and cause a 'no start' condition.
Unfortunately I believe this is what's called an 'interference' engine. In other words, if the chain slips or breaks it COULD cause the tops of the pistons to come into contact with the valves. Bending the valves and possibly causing piston or cylinder head damage.
Also if I'm not mistaken the water pump is also run off of the same chain. So IF you find the chain broke or slipped it may or may not have caused serious damage to other engine components. The water pump isn't a big deal but the valves, pistons, or cylinder head could add up real quick expense wise.
Being attempted starting has already occurred (which is understandable as that's the first reaction when a vehicle stalls) any damage that may have happened is already done. Now it's a matter of diagnosing to see how bad it is.
When attempting to start the engine it will turn over with a rather non-rhythmic sound if the chain broke or jumped time.
Sorry for the 'gloom and doom'. Simply trying to give a straightforward answer.

service vehicle soon light on ? Does not indicate a electrical problem. Have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's
Has to do with OBD2 engine management system .
Window's an A/C not working are two other separate problems . Looking at wiring diagrams an testing the electrical circuit's for the windows and A/C is how to find the problem . Your best bet mite be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop.

Hard to tell without seeing it but I had a freeze plug leak but you should be able to see if there is moisture in that area. We popped it out and replaced it ourselves.

Sounds like a rotating electrical device not connected to the drive belt, like a rad fan. Not sure if this engine has a vacuum pump, but that could also be what's making the noise.
Door loocks clicking when seatbelt latched
it sounds like they may have damaged the fuse box where the relay for the blinkers is. or put a relay in the wrong one some relays look the same but are a different colour, but have the same pin out putting the wrong relay in the wrong slot could cause this.
Engine stalls but starts right back up
How long since a tune-up? To check for some codes, use a jumper wire between A and B terminals at datalink connector. Then, turn key just till dash lights come on. The mil starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes, your looking for two digit numbers. This is 12 pin data link connector obd1.
I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am and it recently

if it idles fine , put the foot on the brake
if it idles bad now -- replace the brake booster
Car turned off while driving down interstate, got it running but now wont start at all
Did your mechanic suggest you go to Fixya and ask for some help for him or her? If not, do you think he or she is going to accept advice from what someone may provide here? We have no idea what he or she has checked and what has been found. Let the mechanic do what he or she is supposed to do. If you get your car back because your mechanic has decided he or she can't fix it, then post another question with details on what has been found and what has been done in attempt to fix it.
