2002 Mazda 626 Questions & Answers
Why is my Mazda not cranking up?
There is no magic "fix" button for this kind of issue. You will need to perform standard diagnostics on the vehicle to determine the fault.
Begin by reading out stored codes from the ECU to see which sensors were detecting an out-of-parameter condition, then begin your diagnosis from that point.
Things to check:
- Timing belt;
- Throttle Position Sensor;
- Fuel pressure at rail (after changing fuel filter, of course);
- Condition of spark plug wires;
- Condition of spark plugs;
- Operation and condition of coil pack(s);
- Operation of fuel injectors;
- Fuel condition (replace ALL FUEL if you suspect contamination).
2002 mazda 626 will not start
Can anyone guess at & list ten items?You have to know basic auto mechanics& have some test equip, such as a fuel pressuregauge,volt meter & code reader.Without factory quality diagnostic manuals to study& follow, you will be asking for help for years.Do you have fuel pressure at the engine?Do you plan on buying wiring diagrams as youprogress to finding components to test in theelectrical systemYou can't throw parts at it in the hope you willget lucky,you have to develop your own teststrategy you use on all vehicles,& that requiresa great deal of theory & basic knowledge.
02 626 mazda overheat issue
if this is fitted with a viscous fan hub and not electric fans then replace the hub. do the normal compression test and coolant pressure test to check cooling system and head gaskets.
How do i find the fuseable link for the aultonator in a 2002 mazda 626?
by new battery you mean brand new off the shelf in which case the voltage would have been 12.5volts and not 11.5 volts. battery voltage will drop while cranking an engine but should recover to 12 volts when stopped. The alternators charge directly to the battery by the red wire from the back of the alternator to the positive terminal of the battery. The other smaller wires are for the regulator control and charge lights. Take the vehicle to an accredited auto electrician to have the fault rectified.
How do I reset the timing?
First pull the timing belt tensioner then slip the belt off the cam gears. You then need to find TDC (Top dead center). 3 ways to find TDC 1) There are marks on the crank pulley align them for TDC. 2) Remove timing cover and use crank gear mark seen in link below 3) Put the dip stick in cylinder 1 and turn engine until dip stick stops going up. After finding TDC align cam gear marks seen in link below. Now make sure both cam and crank stay in position and slip timing belt back on (you can move the cam gear to get the belt on but make sure the marks are aligned after the belt is on). Last tighten the belt tensioner, I usually use my finger or an extension to get some more tension on the belt. You might have to remove engine mount bracket makes life much easier as the front cover section is TIGHT !!!. Turn engine a few times to make sure you have compression and engine turns without getting stuck. See link below good luck.
