I HAVE TO KEEP GIVING IT GAS FOR IT TO START. WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND START DRIVING IT CUTS OFF

The first thing i would do would be to go to an auto parts store like an auto zone. Most auto part stores will scan the computer for any codes and give you a print out of the codes. if you have codes then write me back and list the codes. please make sure to list the year, make and model with the engine size and i will be able to help you further. If there are no codes then the first thing would be to have the fuel pressure tested. this is to make sure the engine is getting the correct amount of fuel. if the fuel is low on pressure this will cause the problem you are having. The codes are a good tool in finding the problem. the cars computer system is always watching the operation or the transmission and engine and all sensors and more.when the computer sees a problem it will store a code. the code when defined will tell you what has failed or out of spec. then with some testing the problem can be found. hope this helps good day.

Need instructions for replacing heater

If it is necessary to remove the heater assembly, the cooling system must be drained before removing the heater core.
When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing
  • The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
  • Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
f74-01.gif The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core. Heater Core
  • Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
  • Remove the heater coolant hoses.
  • Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
  • Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
  • Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
  • To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

Intermittent Misfire

Spark plugs are burnt? How do they look? Do they have black sooty deposits? It sounds like a an EFI problem. Like maybe the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. Located on the main intake after the air filter. Or possibly a vacuum leak? Does it miss at idle only or does it surge and miss while you are driving too? Is there any codes?

My 97 Mazda Protege will sometimes **** (as if the

It sounds like your neutral safety switch. Is it auto? If so, when it starts to slip try pulling back on the shifter while it is in drive, don't change gears, just pull back on the shifter. Sometimes it will move the switch just far enough to send the signal that it is in gear. You can try adjusting it by loosening the adjustment bolt and turning it. You have to remove the airbox to get to it, but it is really easy. If that still doesn't do it, then try to replace it. Like $20. You will need a large socket and breaker to get the main nut loose. But then it just slides off.
