1997 Mazda MPV - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I have a 97 Mazda MPG 3.1, I had a few lifters
Are you sure it's the lifters? I had a problem with an 86 Subaru, part of a solution at one time was to run 90w gear oil in the engine in an attempt to get back missing oil pressure which was the root cause of my problem.
And then the problem developed a bit more such that I had air in my oil and that caused the lifters to always click and clatter no matter how clean or thick the oil was. And then I discovered the front seal on my oil pump was dangling on the input shaft not sealing a darn thing.
After the new seal, I got rid of my air and the lifter clatter and now I'm also back on Rotella 10-40 oil. Darn old Subarus always run low oil pressure so no real relief there.
What's your oil pressure? Where is the oil pump on that thing? Any chance the pickup tube is sucking air? It's amazing how just a little air can make the lifters just go ape.

Change speedo face on mazda bongo
REMOVE AND REPLACE SPEEDO FACE
How to remove the speedo face
Undo the 4 screws that hold the black cover in front of the speedo. Pull the cover off. Undo the 4 screws that hold the instrument cluster. Lift out the cluster. Disconnect the 2 or 3 mulit-plugs from the back. Remove the black panel that hold the glass (push clips). If you don't have the proper tool, use 2 metal spoons to lift the needle from the speedo face. You use the bowl of the spoons on the needle and press on the handles. (It's easier than it sounds.) Undo the 2 screws that hold the speedo face on. Lift it off. Fit the new face.
How to zero the needle on a new speedo face
Fit the speedo unit (without the glass) back into the dash, with all wires connected into the back of it.
Don't fit the needle-stop post to the speedo face yet.
Switch the ignition on. Fit the needle in the zero position.
Now fit the stop-post and glass.
Where is the location of ac expansion valve on 2002 mazda
On a 2002 Protege, you access the expansion valve by removing the glove box and the evaporator case on the passenger side. Two ac lines are disconnected in the engine compartment, two bolts and two electrical plugs and the evaporator case slides out.
2006 LX. Runs fine but what is causing a clicking/flapping sound?
This is one of those where you need to play detective. Check the silly stuff first. Is it a piece of loose body trim or a loose mud flap rattling as you drive along? Is it a decorative 'stick on' accessory like a window flag flapping? Is there something stuck under the vehicle like a tree branch or a bit of trash you've driven over.
Is it a 1, 2 or 3 clicking sequence then nothing, or is it more of a constant 'machine gun' click. Start the vehicle when the engine is cold and listen for the noise. Let the engine sit at idle until it is up to working temperature, (About 10 to 15 minutes from totally cold). DON'T rev the engine! Is the noise there when it's cold or does it start when the engine has warmed up?
Does the noise happen only when driving, only while parked or both? Does it change with road speed, (faster when you press the gas and in gear, and slows when you brake), or with engine speed, (Put it in neutral and gradually press the gas pedal while you listen for any change in the noise)? Does cornering affect the sound? Use the comment button below and I'll see what extra help I can give you.
