How to remove the oil on safari/astro 97

If your referring to motor oil. The oil drain plug in under the engine in the rear center of the oil pan. Requires a 15mm socket it wrench to open. Remember righty tighty lefty loosie. Loosen it than bam!!! There's your motor oil. If the engine has been running and is still hot that oil will burn you badly. Use caution. Do it cold or with leather gloves.

Hi

Check for a vacuum leak somewhere; check every single line weather or not it looks bad, check the intake manifold, head gasket and exhaust manifold gasket. Actually it would be tough to tell you what exactly is wrong. However, the first thing I would check is the throttle body. It may need to be cleaned and adjusted. So check for broken vacuum lines, intake hoses, intake gasket and check the fuel pressure regulator. The brake booster could also have a vacuum leak.

Please get back to us if you have further query else please accept the suggestion. Thank you for contacting fixya.com

Lighters do not work and

check all the fuses with a test light at the fuse panel as you may have more than one fuse bad.replace the fuse and operate the rear hatch and if it works then and the fuse isn`t blown then you probably have a lighter assembly that is blowing the fuse.to find out which one activate each one separately and check the fuse after trying each one before trying another one.the lighter that blows the fuse you may have to replace the lighter element or the lighter socket to stop the fuse from blowing.

Oil pressure reads under the half way point and I

oil pressure gauges don't always tell you exactly what your oil pressure is (depending on the type of gauge) oil pressure is always higher when driving than when idling, as for the key you may have to check with your G M C dealer to find out if it has a chip in it or just get another key cut to see if it works,if your original key has a chip in it you will have to get another one from the G M C dealer.....hope this helps......cheers.

MY 97 SAFARI KEEPS RUNNING

Has any engine light came on your dashboard at all ? IF so please take it to a Advance Auto Parts store so they can check any codes for free or at no cost to you. Have you checked to see if there is enough oil in the engine plus check to see if your transmission has enough fluids as well. Every engine runs hot because when your injectors lets gasoline into each piston chambers and compresses the fuel so when the spark plugs sparks the fuel will cause a very strong hot flame. So every car engines runs hot so does your temperature gage in your dash board shows what ? Let us know because we are not there to check it ourselves.

The power steering and the brakes quit working at

rjoe199, It sounds to me like you have a hydro assisted brake booster instead of the conventional vacuum booster which is sometimes used on your type of vehicle. If there is no power steering fluid then these two issues will occur. The first thing to do is to check the power steering fluid and see if it is at its proper level. If not, then you will have to follow the lines to see if there is a leak anywhere. If so, then repair the leak. Also, check the reservoir to see if it is rotted to the point that this is leaking. If this is the case then you will need to replace this. Check the belt running the pump for tightness as your belt tensioner may have failed. Now start the engine and look into the reservior and see if there is movement of the fluid. If there is no movement then the pump itself has failed and will need to be replaced. For this you will need a power steering pump pulley puller to remove and replace the pulley because the pump will not have the pulley on it when purchased. The reservoir will also have to be reused so be sure that you use all the new o-rings that come with the pump and be careful with the pressure relief valve when reinstalling it. Lastly, check your brake fluid and be sure there is the proper level in this as well. You may have a brake fluid leak as well. Good luck with this.

Have a 97 gmc safari

I'm a little confused as to what you mean by loose. I'm gonna just take a guess that you might want to check since you said it's making a lot of noise & that you said the bolts are tight. I would take the belt off and see if what is loose is acually the shaft for the water pump where the play or loosness is at which would mean that the water pump is bad. that's what it sounds like to me. i hope this helps and good luck

How do I remove the interior engine cover?

There are two screws that require the star shaped screwdriver. They are covered by plastic caps. After you remove those... on the floor under the "glove box" is a couple of nuts and bolts that need to be removed, as well as slip clips that hold the cover in place. After you remove the heater vent, there are two more larger bolts *can also be removed by using a large and long flat-head screw driver* that mount it to the body of the van. Hope this helps.
