1997 GMC Safari - Page 3 Questions & Answers
I need a gmc safari diagram for fuel pump 1991
I don't usually do diagrams due to copyright laws. From the fuel pump you have a gray wire and a black wire.The black is ground and the gray is power from both the pump relay and the oil pressure switch. The oil pressure switch provides power to the pump once the engine starts.At the relay, you have a green and white wire that provides power from the ECM with the key switch on. You have an orange wire that provides power from a 15amp fuse. The gray wire going to the pump, and a black and white wire for ground for the relay. The ECM provides power for 3 seconds when the key switch is turned on to boost line pressure for startup.
Antilock brakes not funtioning properly on "hard" stops
Yes, I never did like ABS brakes because of this. What you have experienced is the ABS system working as it is designed to do. I know, it doesn't seem like you should still be moving after slamming on the brakes, but here is how it works;
When you apply a fast and hard pedal and the ground beneath you is wet the wheels stop at different times. There are sprockets mounted to the rear of the rotors, with magnetic sensors that monitor the wheel info. for all four wheels mounted next to the brake calipers. On a hard stop when the sensor detects one wheel stopping and another still going, these sensors send "pulses" to each wheel until the vehicle has stopped without the brakes having to lock up. The pulsiing is what you experienced and is a normal part of the ABS function.

Replaceing head lights
If you have the commercial model with the square headlight bulbs, the trim ring comes off.If yours takes a regular bulb that is made onto the base, it comes out from the back.
No spark
Someone would check for voltage and a ground signal at the coil, then backtrack to the distributor.
Vehicle wont hold charge after one day or so of non use
Sounds like you have a drain. Take off the positive battery post,and hook a test light to the unhooked positive battery cable. Then touch the end of the test light to the battery positive post on the battery,...if it lights up,with the key off,and all doors closed,then you have a system draw. Start pulling fuses untill the test light bulb goes out. When it goes out,use your manual to see what that fuse operates,and that will narrow it down for you. Good Luck!
