2002 focus engine light on, code po171, whats

Lean operation, usually caused by a vacuum leak. Check all vacuum hoses for looseness or cranks, etc. Also check the main air inlet hose from the air cleaner for tears. If no vacuum hose leaks, check the intake manifold gaskets for leaks by spraying carb cleaner on the gaskets while the engine is idling. If the speed changes when you spray the gasket, it is leaking.
If all that is good, try cleaning the mass airflow sensor by spraying electrical parts cleaner on the wire of the sensor. Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Hello my name is Sean and I have a 2002 ford focus

the fan motor is maybe bad, disconnect it (the motor) and put in new fuse, if its ok, then the motor is bad. the resistor only handles speeds lower than HIGH. so replace the motor first, then try it, if all speeds work, then the resistor is OK.

Electric windows stuck open, also occasionally

The window may have came off track if it isn't moving at all or moves by itself. Otherwise the motor itself could be completely shot and will not hold window in place. You can remove all the screws and lock & window controls. Then you can gently pry off the door panel and lift up and off to gain access to motor and window.

Hello
Please explain exactly what diagram is needed? The engine diagrams are broken down into sections that you are repairing, not one big diagram.

Trying to figure out if

Hello newlex rocks: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. Ford used two different 2.0l engines. Look at the eighth digit of the VIN #. If the digit is a 3 then you have a 2.0 DOHC engine. If the digit is a (P) then you have a 2.0 SOHC engine. This is a positive way of telling which engine you have. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Just the hose that comes with it, but the freon can be best monitored with a gauge attached to it,some cans of freon come with the gauge some do not, its best to use the ones that do for a novice, because
you don't want to over fill your ac system with freon, an overfilled system will loose its cooling ability as
well as damaging components from higher pressures. good luck!

I have a ford focus 1.8 which has intermittent

Hello, When you install a different Battery, make sure it is charged to 13.2V-!3.6V. The problem you are having is in a lot of Ford products. It is a combination of the Anti-theft and the Battery Minder. Even with a jump-charge or a Battery charger attached while the engine runs, once you disconnect the boost, the charging circuit will cutout within 3 minutes. People have stalled at 70MPH with a dead Battery.

In the older Models what you describe would be a lazy Voltage Regulator. But with the Models with a Battery Minder, a drain on the system disconnects the power even if the drain is the running engine. Also check the wires coming off of the Alternator; sometimes if there is a metal line, the wire can chaff and discharge and trigger the other problems.

Would appreciate knowing what finally fixed this problem for you.

Still working on the Ford

Keep in mind that the fuel supply pressure is electronically regulated by the PCM.

The FRPT (Fuel Rail Pressure & Temperature) sensor measures the pressure and temperature of the fuel in the fuel rail and sends these signals to the PCM. The sensor uses the intake manifold vacuum as a reference to determine the pressure difference between the fuel rail and the intake manifold. The fuel return line to the fuel tank has been deleted in this type of fuel system. The relationship between fuel pressure and fuel temperature is used to determine the possible presence of fuel vapor in the fuel rail. Both pressure and temperature signals are used to control the speed of the fuel pump. The speed of the fuel pump sustains fuel rail pressure which preserves fuel in its liquid state. The dynamic range of the fuel injectors increase because of the higher rail pressure, which allows the injector pulse width to decrease.

  1. Connect the vacuum hose to the FRP.
  2. Disconnect the FRP sensor connector
  3. Turn the key ON, engine OFF.
  4. Measure the voltage between the harness connector pins.
  5. The voltage should be as shown in the chart, according to temperature.

Hope helps; keep us updated.
