the only thing that the system have in common is the PCM (power control module) best guess is the quad driver inside the PCM is overheating and shutting down, it is non-serviceable and you will need to replace the PCM.....check with your local salvage yard before spending the cash for a new one they will need the year make and model as well as the ser# on the PCM....good luck ....let me know how it comes out.
Dash gages donot work property
This
is a common problem with the voyager, caravans and Town & Country .
What the problem is is a cold solder in the instrument cluster itself. The
problem area is where the plug comes from the van
into the cluster. You need to take the circuit board out of the cluster
and reheat the solder on the back side of the circuit board were the
plug plugs into. This will fix the cold solder permanently I think its
about 16 pin you have to reheat with the solder gun. If you don't feel comfortable doing that you can just replace the instrument cluster and it
will be fine but if you buy a used one make sure it was tested. Hope
this help I have done several of them.
No spark & it isnt
if the engine turns over but wont fire when you turn the key it is possible that the timing belt has broken. when that happens it will turn and turn but never start.
Gas tank size , gas gage does not work , how many
The gas tank capacity is 20 US gallons, but the tank will really only hold about 19.5 gallons. As far as mileage goes that really depends on your driving habits and the load it carries, just you? more? I would think that your average miles to the gallon would be in the range of 14-16 town and highway.
Here is the EPA ratings, which never match the real world gas mileage.
EPA Fuel Economy: City: 17-20 Highway: 22-26
I have a 1996 Dodger Grand Caravan with a 3 liter
The problem is moisture could be getting in anywhere. I try to diagnose this problem by using a misting spray bottle of water to get things wet under the hood while the car is running. It's safe as long as you don't spray water down the air intake. Just start the van and wet down anything that looks electronic until the van's idle stumbles or quits. A cracked coil pack or bad plug wire is the most common cause of this problem.
It gives me acode p1495 and check engine light
P0445= Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted
P1495= Leak detection pump solenoid circuit
both of these codes are just emission codes and are nothing to really worry about if you can live with the engine light being on all the time they won't hurt engine in any way and you won't notice any change in the way the van runs
there really only two reasons to fix this
1. you can't stand engine light being on
2. you live in a state with smog laws that require routine inspections
1996 dodge grand caravan windshield
the linkage could have come off the motor itself there is a locking clip that sometimes breaks and allows the linkage to come off.you would have to remove the under hood cover to gain access to the motor along with the removing the wiper arms to remove the assembly so you can work on it there is the washer hose that will have to be removed also.
I need a manual or a photo of the engine labeling
i don't know of a free down load of a manual yet,but i can tell you where you can get one for around $20.00 autozone or advance auto parts. it's an extensive inside look with pictures and step by step instructual directions. thank you for choosing fixya.com
I need to drop the transmission on my 96 dodge
not to hard to do it on the ground. youll need a floor jack to raise and lower the engine. dont remove the front motor mount. youll have to remove the cv joints also. a good mechanic can do this job in 3 to 5 hours. its nothing like removing a rear wheel drive tranny.
I was driving 80mph on the hightway and when I got
Hi!!
Check the Fuel Pump Pressure, you can borrow a Fuel Pressure Tester from AutoZone or similar auto parts store. Ask the store associate for the proper pressure of your vehicle's fuel pump.
Good Luck!!
Changing the air filter
go to your local autoparts store to locate the air filter appropriate, then take the clips off of the intake box, replace filter, and then put the clips/screws back in place, simple as that!
1996 dodge grand caravan 3.3
It is hard to say with the info posted, it could be related to a number of issues. If you have verified that there is no spark to the spark plugs, it could be the CPS (crankshaft position sensor)

Hi, these kinds of problems point to the body control module. I recommend you get a used one at your local salvage yard and pop it in to see if it doesn't drive the gremlins out. You might want to make sure the wiring is right on the radio before you put the new one in, as the previous short is the likely cause of the failure. The BCM is under the steering wheel. Please let me know if you have any questions and thanks for using FixYa.
In the summer when i drive the van the speed meter
Hi and welcome to FixYa!
Yes it's the tranny but nothing fatal on this. I strongly suggest that you replace the transmission fluid. If the fluid is burnt hard shifting is expected specially on warm temp. Have a fluid change and you'll be good.
Hope you find this information helpful enough and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!
HOW DO I GET A BELT TENSIONER OFF A 96 3.3L dodge
What you don't see is the one bolt on the back side of the tensioner that can only be reached from underneath the vehicle. Jack up the van and get your flashlight out and look up on the back side of the tensioner and you will see the bolt holding it on. With a variety of wrenches sockets universals and extensions you can get it off. Getting it back on is even harder. I used a piece of tape in the socket to hold it to get it back on. Also you will need 2 people to get the belt on. One at the bottom and one from the top just to hold the belt in place on all the pullys.
