probably a weak pump,take and have a fuel pressure test done

this is a relative high calibre job and if this is your first attempt at it ,then the best advice you will get is to get a workshop manual before you start. A good set of spanners and sockets and screw drivers are basic tools so if you do not have these then the job will be difficult at best.

huge number of posts here. why not just post the full symptoms and ask for help???????? all things RELATED, that work and do not work. this forms a set of evidence that we can work. with. set a tiller, i even know what that means, working field of dirt. that tells me you are OFF road. one more key fact. diagnosing 4WD is not easy online, and on this forum , impossible it lacks any structure at all for cars. or trucks. (just one infinite category) why not use a real forum. that does all that RIGHT. like this. What make and model car is this?

if it is fuel injected that truck needs in the range of 70-80 psi to run had one with 45psi that would not run so make sure it's putting out enough psi

When you put key in the on position just before it cranks. Does your security light indicater stay on steady or does it flash on and off?

Check to see if belt broke .Under hood for power steering pump.

First you must determine if the fuel is stopping or the spark is stopping..If the fuel is stopping this could be a computer problem.. If the spark is stopping then it could be the IGN Module in the distributer. or any nomber of sensors. Squirt a little fuel directly into the Throttle body on the intake manifold.. If the truck runs longer its probably loss of fuel.. Do this several times to make sure, be careful and only use a small amounty of fuel.. you do not want a fire.. RE: Spark: Take a plug wire and an old plug..put the wire on the plug.. hold the plug against a good ground .. have someone crank the engine .. does the plug stop firing? The engine dies.. and will not restart for a minuet or so.. during this "no start" time do the plug test. If the plug will not fire during this time take the module out and take it to Orillys Auto parts.. They can test it.. really expensive part. Don't replace until you know it is BAD..

If you have replaced the switch, and it is still doing it it sounds like you definately have a short somewhere in your wiring. On the other hand if the dimmer is in the turn signal arm ( forward bright back dim ) the problem could also be there in the dimmer switch, such as a short being caused by that dimmer switch being faulty.Auto Zone and Discount Auto Parts both test a lot of your electrical problems for free, and/or may have some knowledge to more accurately pin point the problem. Not sure about Pep Boys or some of the other discount auto part chains.
