Can the four wheel drive actuator freeze up and

yes. sometimes not servicing the differential can cause the actuator to stick in position. either you can or cant put it in 4 wheel. you may have to replace the actuator and service the differential to cure this. hope this helps

I have 2004 nissan titan

actually could be many reasons, dont want to scare you but there are several sensors that control this grey area, Oxygen, temp, crank, mas, knock sensors. dirty air cleaner, dirty oil (oil sensor) the light will only stay lit if the computer has stored a code, so i suggest getting a scan done to narrow the possibility of causes. What sucks about this is it cost $80-100.00 for a complete engine diagnostic, (fuel pres, timing, air fuel,cat,misfires,etc..) But first,if you take the car to a auto-zone or O'reillys, maybe a napa they will perform a basic code test and hopefully give you a basic or solution to the problem. does the car still run okay? if so have them clear the code, maybe you got some bad gas or something that triggered this. Unless the car is running unusual, or you can hear, feel a problem don't be to alarmed of that light starring at you. Check all fluids, clear code which will shut light off and try again. Hows the fuel mpg holding up.

check battery voltage! the noise is most likely a relay with not enough voltage to keep coil energized.

you can push it back in, but it may most likely pop out again. there is a snap ring inside on the end of the shaft assembly. we have seen some issues with those, but we repalced the whole front diff, because they get damaged, from the axle just floating loose just like in your case.

04 titan is misfiring. Codes say cylinder 1 and 2

pull the plugs on those cylinders and test compression. if ok, listen to the injectors with stethoscope. make sure they sound the same as the others.

2004 Nissan Titan.....My front driver side axle

This failure has NO temporary fix, it is caused by the front axle "C" clip retainer failing, in the process it destroys the front differential, this is a factory defect and has been reported by 100's of 2004-2006 Titan owners, a new front differential assembly is required to fix the failure, sorry to give the bad news, what I would do is contact the local Nissan dealer and see if the factory will help with the cost of the repair or contact the Nissan customer service hotline number in your owners manaul, it is a pattern failure and I believe it has been reported to the US Department of Transportation Safety Board.
Below you will find a link to Nissan truck owners Forum, the entire thread is about the axle problems, I would read it if i were you.

Engine sputters on take off

Check the throttle position sensor. Pull any error codes from the computer and respond to those indications...Check your fuel evaporative system, often set to purge at off idle and if raw fuel is being purged, rather than fumes, you can have yoru condition. There is a vapor separator that fails and the evaporative recovery system gets liquid fuel...

How repair replace part for code

PO183--Engine Fuel Temp Sensor,Verify PID Value
PO420---Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank1),O2 Sensors,Coolant Temp Sensor,Misfiring,etc
PO430--- Catalyst (Bank2)
PO462---Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Low Input,pump module,etc

Well----Codes do not tell you what part to replace,Just that a possible system failure has ocurred
Unless you have a scanner, not a code reader and a trouble chart, your done.
No experience,done

I would speculate, that you only have a couple of, not too serious issues, but wouldn't guess,it doesn't work that way.
Always test, and only replace things if they fail a test.

Is the battery okey and alternator output good ?

Running hot, while driving

If it is getting hot when you stop - it could be a bad fan motor..
If it gets hot while moving - it could be a bad thermostat or a sensor..
Dont allow it to get to hot or it will cause costly damage to the motor..

Good luck ;)

Check engine light came on then discovered the

Hi,

As the check engine light is ON, you need to take your vehicle to the nearest autozone . As the check engine light is ON, this confirms that there is an error stored in the memory of the car computer.Once you scan the car, you would get certain codes. Let me know the codes and i would be able to follow up from there. There is no point of wasting you time on speculations when scanning the car would most probably tell us the root cause of the problem. For more about check engine light, read :-

http://www.fixya.com/cars/r4008552-check_engine_light_being

If you have the scanner, you could also scan the codes with it without taking / towing the vehicle to autozone.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Several OBD Codes about EVAP System, if you can tell us exactly what code in there, could send specific details about clues or solutions about this problem.

Keep in touch.

Shut off

If by that you mean that you truck shut off and you can't start it up then you must do some testing: first  find out if you still have power in the battery - use a voltmeter to read at least 11 volts, if not, the battery is dead; if that happened while driving then the alternator is dead.
Next check that you have power at the key switch by turning in the first position and lighting up the interior lights.
Next check that when you turn the key the dash lights up - if it doesn't then you have a bad contact in the key (or wiring) or the fuses are burned.
Finally try to start the engine - if it turns then you must tow the truck to have the error codes read. Once you know them you can investigate further.
