HI. the check engine light will illuminate when a sensor fault is detected. all sensors on your vehicle work in conjunction with the CPU on board. they relay information for the CPU to process. this information allows the CPU to initiate certain actions like fuel pump operation and proper charging of the battery and proper coolant flow as well. if one of the vital sensors start to malfunction and cant send and receive any information to the cpu, it will launch a self diagnostic alert , which is this check engine light. This will become illuminated to inform you of some sort of malfunction within the engine itself. the best thing now is to take this vehicle to the dealership for a quick scan. Once the problem is found, they can fix it and shut off the check or service engine light.

As for the life span of a Nissan transmission, these builds will last quite a while if you take good care and preform proper maintenance. The the normal life span of a typical mini van transmission is 100,000 miles. This nissan's transmission should get about 120,000 or more. The key to a long life span of a transmission is good care and proper maintenance like, changing the filters regularly and flushing the contents as well as changing the fluid every 60,000 miles.

SIGNS OF TRANS failure
Slippage of any gear cycle.
Hard shifting and abnormal grinding during gear changes on a hill.
Miss shifts.(not being able to shift on time or sticking in a certain gear over the rpm rate)
Black transmission fluid or metal fragments inside the transmission pan.
Gear shift slipping out of drive or reverse is a failure point as well.

does it do it all the time or when you first start it after it sat for a period of time, if sat a long time something is draining your battery, comething with the charging system or a bad relay that does not shut off

check the autolamp sensor

This vehicle has an electrical Short or a bad Ac compressor. Check the wire that connect to the Ac clutch its mounted on the top of the compressor. Sometimes the insulation on this wire become broken and if it touches any metal parts of you vehicle will short out the system and blow the fuse. Make sure that you are using the right amp fuse first. Good Luck

Absolutely its a common problem with the Quest the filter housing sits low with the filter and if you bottom out it can break. Fit a few myself. Best option go to the junk yard and buy the oil filter unit/housing unit. Just a few bolt and a seal and the job is done. Good Luck

This is a head scratcher! My first thought is the rotors. They have an oil film that needs to be degreased before being installed. That may be only part of the prob! My guess is that you hit open road in a short time?? The grinding, jack each wheel and rotate by hand, have your helper gently apply the brakes,[just slightly], this should lead you to the prob. Also check for movement in the wheel bearings. Check that the dust shields are clearing the rotor. If all this fails, remove the wheels and check the inside of the rims for any wear marks. This may be ever so slight. This is the best I can come up with at this time! Frankster016

Not a lot to go on here, but it sounds like the TPS needs to be replaced. [Throttle position sensor]
But even more likely a vaccume leak at the intake! Check this by having a helper get the engine running at a constant speed,[slower the better] then spray starting fluid under the breather and you will hear a change in the engine if there is a leak. Replace the gasket being careful to tighten the bolts equally. One thing left...........Wash an wax and enjoy! Frankster016

These 3.0 engines had an issue with the manifolds warping and shearing off the manifold studs particularily on the corners. To repair correctly you would need to replace the warped manifold with new and drill ad possibly tap out broken studs and replace all studs with new. The only problem I am having with your question is that usually the exhaust smell lessens when the engine gets hotter as the expansion causes some sealing. But anyways thi is most likely your issue.

I am 4 months late, but here goes , one more HUNT engine question. if you try to buy one ,none are sold, so where'd you put it if can't buy one, now that is the $64,000 question, no problem told at all just a hunt, endless here, is engine power lacking and some dweeb said find the MAP that does not exist, why you posted? YES! one more useless hunt. yes this engine has MAF< (air meter) not a baro map sensor. the mAF is just behind all air cleaners. just there. no country told. no engine told (yes for USA cars below) that sensor is only used on engines that must have one. 1/2 do and 1/2 dont; but not one clue or VIN number of car told map can also be for EGR only testing,(OBD2 USA) the map has vacuum line or intake manifold port mounted, if not seen there it is NOT THERE. (and is not there) Gen 4 quest , USA I only do USA answers. our car has this v6. only 18,000 made (rare) VQ35DE 3.5L V6 my wild wild guess, engine power lacks.? check all fuses first and scan the PCM 2nd? now that matters., 1: bad engine. (cam VVT or chain guides dead?)low compression. 2: bad spark, bad COP coils and spark plugs bad, 100kmile life. 3: bad fueling too much or too little, fuel pressure dead wrong bad FPR bad, or bad MAF. EGR valve stuck open. gross vacuum leaks there are 20 test to do with 20 tools and meters, post real problem and we work that to the end using tools.

no ecm wont adjust it will be setting off more codes and stalling the egr can also cause a no start problem need to fix and hook the egr correctly

not much info hear But 1 of the first things to check on any car not running right is the Air Filter. because your car has to breath to run right. if you hold the filter up to the sun you should be able to see the light through filter. it is almost impossible to clean most filters. if any questions just replace air filter! same with fuel filter. you did not say if your check engine light is on? if it is most any auto parts will put a scanner on your car for Free and print out the codes if you ask. 1976 or newer. good luck

The EGR valve might be build up with a lot of carbon I would clean it first if the code comes back then I will replace it

This means 1 of the modules is not communicating with computer. Try cleaning body ground wires/connectors and wire connectors by the ECM. (computer)

check fuses and relays --horn switch --clockspring --wire harness

Check electrical connections to radio. Also if the speakers wires ground out. it will not play

if it is like my Quest 1999 model it is behind the glovebox. need to open glovebox and carefully move stop tabs a little to go around frame and will drop glovebox down. the box behind this is the ecm.

I think you did not put the right injectors look if the new injectors has the same part number, if is not the same you will dump too much fuel into the engine .
