1996 Sentra 1.6 burned hole in #2 piston why?
piston failure like this comes from several items . The most common is detonation (untimed combustion that occurs from air /fuel mixture too lean and combusts from compression). Spark too far advanced and air fuel mixture too lean. If it is detonation you will see small indents in the other pistons resembling pits made by a ball bearing

bolts on, (the 4 bolts align ok, only)
passes smog test.s
runs car perfect in all temperatures and altitudes.
choke works.
All vacuum parts work.
linkage fits perfect as does the a/T kickdown cable.
and the list goes on.....
why not post symptoms and not do wild guessing, on parts swaps
btw , parts swaps on cars is the most complex topic there is.
you never stated both engine sizes.
Egr leaks water
If it is actually leaking out of the EGR valve it needs replaced,or if it is leaking from the gasket then replace gasket
ECT circuit fault
The light will not immediately turn off. It takes 2-3 full ignition cycles to reset. If you want to reset it yourself, the tool you use to check it with has that capability.
