1996 Nissan Quest - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Hi I have a 96 nissan quest xe my problem
It is possible that the fluid level is low. If so then fill it because this will cause the transmission to slip. The next step is to change the fluid and filter. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Engine is overheating immediatly
Check your radiator fluid level. If the fluid is low, car will overheat. Fill the radiator and fill your reservoir to the proper hot or cold level marked on the side. If your fluids are good, it could be a faulty thermostat. If the thermostat is stuck closed, your fluid won't flow. If you follow your top radiator hose back it will lead you to the thermostat housing. You will have to drain your fluid to remove and replace the thermostat.
1997 nissan quest is running hot. changed the
Many things can cause this but check the radiator. It could need cleaned as in rodded out. Could be a blown head gasket or timing could be slightly off just enough to overheat it.
Engine tries to turn over but won't fire
won't fire mean won't run or no-spark at the plugs?
check for spark at the plugs, check for fuel pressure
check all fuses.
if no fuel then check fuel pump
if no spark then check ignition coil, wires and connectors, if ok then you may need a distributor
Changing the fuel filter
Starting at the fuel tank.. follow the fuel lines towards the front of the car. Make sure when you replace the fuel filter that you put the arrow on the fiter the right direction, otherwise there will be no flow and the engine will not start,
Good Luck!
Acts like put in neutral and looses power.
Hi,
If it's more than 80K on the clock, it's possible it needs a new clutch, or there may be oil contamination of the clutch. If it is oil, you will need a new oilseal too. There is no point in just checking a clutch - as it needs gearbox removal, so replace it while it's off. New clutches are under £50 - so it's the labour that is the expensive bit.
Best to shop around.
